The Metal Gear Solid series has earned a special place in the hearts of millions of gamers from all corners of the world since its debut in 1998. Now Kojima Productions is inviting you to share your fondest memories of this five-game franchise on the Metal Gear Solid Interactive Timeline.
It was rumoured into existence before the game had even been released, but now Ubisoft has confirmed the speculation: The character of Raiden from the Metal Gear Solid franchise does indeed make an appearance in the publisher’s latest open-world action game, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
How do you unlock the skin of this guest star? Simply by completing various tasks in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’s virtual training mode – the video below will help clue you in:
Hideo Kojima, head of Kojima Productions and creator of the incredibly successful Metal Gear series of games (amongst others) has thrown down a gauntlet to himself, saying that if the next videogame project that he’s involved with is a failure, he will “have to the leave the industry.”
It seems Kojima wants to tackle a particular theme or subject matter in his next game – one that sounds quite risky and may turn certain audience members away if it’s not handled just right.
In a Twitter tweet (translated by AndriaSang) Kojima wrote:
April Fool’s Day is usually a torrid, confusing time for Mother Internet and her children, and for those that can afford to do so, it’s a good opportunity to stay away from the craziness and nonsense that gets passed around.
Sometimes, however, little gems will emerge on April 1st that otherwise may not have come to be - little projects that are days, weeks and sometimes even months in the making come to light to bring a smile to your face.
This latest video, a collaboration between Ubisoft and Kojima Productions, is such a gem, and should be watched by all fans of Assassin’s Creed and Metal Gear Solid - it’s truly awesome and properly hilarious!
Just in case you missed it, a three-pack bundle of Metal Gear Solid PSP titles, which includes MGS: Portable Ops, MGS: Portable Ops Plus, and MGS: Digital Graphic Novel, recently arrived on the US PlayStation Store.
You can get the lot for $29.99. Director of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, David Daniels reckons “fans of the series and newcomers alike” are getting “an amazing value.”
I’ve always wanted to try those…
PlayStation 3 and PSP users are being treated to a wealth of new content on the US and European PlayStation Stores this week, the highlights of which are easily the availability of the original Metal Gear Solid (in both regions) and Critter Crunch (finally) arriving on the European storefront.

Konami have been kind enough to release an extensive transcript of a controlled question and answer session with Metal Gear Solid and Kojima Productions boss, Hideo Kojima.
The Q&A discusses various aspects of the upcoming PSP game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, as well the meaning behind that Metal Gear themed countdown to E3.

A bit of a slow week this time around for the US and European PlayStation Stores, with not much to talk about, except the usual assortment of Rock Band, Guitar Hero: World Tour and game downloadable content (DLC), with some interesting videos and wallpapers bringing an extra touch of spice to the respective updates.
Oh, also, the original Metal Gear Solid is now available to buy and download from the US PlayStation Store.

After two weeks of dank, gloomy weather on the Kojima Productions teaser website, the sun has finally broken through the clouds, shining down on the peaceful, scenic view below, with what sounds like the beach in the background, but it could also just be the wind rustling through the trees.
Does this confirm that Sunny, the character from Metal Gear Solid 4, will make an appearance in whatever it is that Kojima Productions have been teasing this whole time?
Another symbol has appeared on the site as well, which looks like an ‘8,’ but could just as easily be a ‘B’ or a zero… but it’s probably an eight:
It seems the moment Metal Gear fans have been waiting for has finally arrived - one of the key characters from the Metal Gear Solid universe, Raiden, has appeared on the Kojima Productions teaser website.
The teaser website has been featuring updates over the last two weeks, all alluding to a big new announcement that studio head, Hideo Kojima, will make at this year’s E3, running next week.
The much rumoured appearance of Raiden has led to yet another round of rampant speculation over what the announcement could possibly be, although we’ll probably need to wait until E3 to know the true answer.
The latest update to the on-going series of teasers on the Kojima Productions’s ‘Next’ site doesn’t really reveal anything more than the last update, only now the weather has turned even worse than before, with rain pouring down.
The lightning strikes continue to reveal mysterious letters, now with the addition of a ‘P’ and an ‘R’ into the mix, as well as the accompanying letters from last time. The timer has stopped, though, now simply sitting on a bunch of zeros…
Ho-ho, but what’s this? After staring at the scene for a little longer than is healthy, a lightning strike revealed a face… it was pretty scary.
Is that Big Boss?
The ongoing mystery that is the Kojima Productions teaser website has been updated recently with new clues that may point to a disappointing conclusion.
On the website, the weather in the original scene depicted has deteriorated to the point of gloomy, rainy weather and frequent lightning strikes. After each major lightning strike, a new letter is revealed, with four letters appearing in total – S, e, E and 3… or even 5, @, E, 3.
The letters seem to appear randomly, but one possible reading of them would be in that order, which could spell out ‘SeE3,’ or ‘See E3…’ or even ‘5 @ E3,’ meaning ‘Metal Gear Solid 5 at E3.’
Do we have to wait that long for an announcement on Kojima Productions’ next game, or will the next website update clue us in a bit further? Time will tell.
Check out all of the images from the website below:
Kojima Productions’ announcement teaser site has been updated with some stormy weather, lightning strikes and a timer counting down to roughly three and a half days until another tease (possibly on Friday), or a maybe solid announcement this time.
Don’t count on it though, as words doing the rounds are that there will be another three such teases, comprising four days each, coincidentally leading up to the beginning of E3 on June 2nd, where Kojima said his next game would be announced.
Also, whenever a lightning strike hits the screen, the number ‘5’ can be seen briefly before it fades away again… or is it an ‘S’? What could it all mean? Metal Gear Solid 5? Metal Gear Solid: S… omething?
Oh, Kojima Productions, you’re such a tease!

Update 2
Have a look at the latest update to the Kojima Productions teaser site, featuring the visage of Big Boss, over here.
Following on from the Kojima Productions’ teaser advertisement that appeared in Famitsu recently, a new teaser website has been put up on Konami’s site featuring the same cloudy, veld-like scene as the print ad, only now the clouds are animated.
People have been reporting seeing images in the clouds, similar to those found in the print ad, but it’s difficult to make out. Can you see anything?
The big reveal and/or announcement from Kojima Productions will be out this Monday (May 18th).
Kojima Productions, the development studio behind the more recent entries to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and headed up by industry legend Hideo Kojima, have an announcement to make, and they want everybody to know about it.
The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, has a double-page spread announcing an upcoming announcement, heading straight to your eyes on the 18th of May from Kojima Productions and Konami (as evidenced by the logos at the top-left and bottom-right corners of the pages.
Also something to take notice of on the page are images that have been formed in the clouds. Can you see the profile of Old Snake’s face? And, maybe possibly, the outline of an Xbox 360 controller making up the head of that profile?
Rumour mongering at its finest!
