Sony has unveiled the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Edition, along with details on a Special Edition for the game.
The LittleBigPlanet 2 Special Edition will include a copy of the game, a Move controller (of course you all know that the game now includes Move support) and over $35 worth of bonus goodies.
LittleBigPlanet fans can look forward to creating games for their PlayStation Move motion controller today as the new LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack has arrived on the PlayStation Network.
The latest free update for LittleBigPlanet 2 was just released this week, but did you know that it added Move support to the game? Yip, that’s right, LittleBigPlanet 2 is now Move-enabled so you can control your Sackboy, or Sackgirl (ahem), with the Move controller and Navigation controller.
With LittleBigPlanet 2 releasing a couple of weeks ago, the series has once again become the focus of attention for many PS3 gamers who enjoy creating their own levels and/or sampling the work of others. But have you ever stopped to consider the vast educational potential of the series?
Educators have long been looking for ways to make study material relevant and accessible to learners, and consequently a flurry of ‘edutainment’ titles have been released over the past few years to try and bridge the gap between learning and fun.
LBP2’s developers, Media Molecule, are joining the edutainment party by working in conjunction with the education-focused branch of Sony Computer Entertainment (called ConnectED) to bring LBP2 teachers’ kits to the classroom.
LittleBigPlanet 2 is a starkly different experience depending on if you play it offline or online. Offline it fails to live up to its predecessor’s varied and challenging story mode, despite the many new additions to Sackboy’s arsenal. However, once you’re connected to the LittleBigPlanet servers, the game takes on a completely new dimension and proves that it’s got all the right ingredients to be the best community-based experience on the PlayStation 3.

It doesn’t take much to get excited about LittleBigPlanet 2, but seeing as how the ‘Play Create Share’ platform adventure game releases tomorrow across the UK, Europe and South Africa, it surely couldn’t hurt to get just a little bit more excited about the game… could it?
Could it?!
While watching this video studio tour of developer Media Molecule’s offices, if you start to feel any discomfort (in your ‘Grinning Muscles’ or ‘Excitement Organs,’ for example), it’s recommended you stop viewing immediately. The damage could be permanent:
Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet 2 releases tomorrow in North America and around the rest of the world later this week, and to get properly excited for this incredibly advanced version of the developer’s ‘Play Create Share’ vision, we’ve collected together a number of trailers showcasing the power and potential that will be in your hands should you decide to pick the game up.
Head on down below to see dozens of astounding creations and game modes that Media Molecule has bolted together using their own tools – the same tools that you’ll be able to use to create similarly marvellous projects – including classic arcade-style games, action games, racing games and much more.
Kevin Butler, VP of Infinite Infinity, also makes an appearance, so don’t miss these wonderful new LittleBigPlanet 2 videos celebrating tomorrow’s release in North America!
Just what is it about the world and characters of LittleBigPlanet that can so effortlessly put a smile on even the most upturned mug?
Maybe it’s not the characters or the world, but the music and crazy events you find yourself in? Or perhaps it’s the ability to easily slap together your own creations and see them come to life before your very eyes?
I’d wager it’s a combination of everything, as well as a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ mixed into the concoction by developer Media Molecule, all of which is on display in this latest trailer for LittleBigPlanet 2:
It’s been just over two years since the first LittleBigPlanet game burst onto the scene with its unique “PLAY, CREATE, SHARE” concept. Since then this PS3 exclusive has garnered numerous awards, and in an unsurprising move developer Media Molecule was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment earlier this year. There’s also the small matter of the 3 million or so user-generated levels that fans worldwide have uploaded to the LBP servers.
To put things into perspective, that’s over 4 000 levels being added daily. With this level of support from the Playstation community and Sony it was clear that a LBP sequel was a no-brainer. However for a long time Media Molecule denied that they were developing a sequel, claiming that another LBP would defeat the whole point of the game - namely it being a constantly evolving source of endless entertainment created by and for the community.

In the original LittleBigPlanet, you’re not only able to create your own levels and customised characters for the platform game to amuse themselves (as well as share with an online community), but you’re also able to create your own contraptions to make navigating through your levels more interesting.
Many a makeshift vehicle has no doubt been made by eager LittleBigPlanet gamers in the quest for automotive perfection, but the current system is, to use a technical term, ‘a little jank.’
LittleBigPlanet 2, however, will make this process of creating vehicles a breeze with the ‘Controlinator,’ a little gadget that you can attach to your creations and easily assign control input abilities.
But you won’t just be limited to vehicles! Oh no!
Watch the latest LittleBigPlanet 2 video revealing the many uses of the Controlinator below:
Media Molecule has previously released a handful of featurette videos revealing the hijinx we’ll be able to partake in when the developer’s LittleBigPlanet 2 finally releases at the beginning of 2011, and this edition of the series showcases the ‘Grabinator’ glove tool.
“What does the Grabinator do?”
It lets you grab things in the whacky world of LittleBigPlanet 2, of course!
“What kind of things?”
Everythings! Check it out in this latest, excellently-produced video for LittleBigPlanet 2:
The European PlayStation Blog recently gave us a glimpse at the European box art for Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet 2, just so that we’ll know what to look out for when the game releases in January.
The blog post also let everybody know what gamers in PAL regions can expect from the Collector’s Edition of the game in terms of extra content.
Here’s a large image of the box art:
Ever since the game was announced earlier this year, with bunches of amazing new features revealed to allow for an explosion of creativity, LittleBigPlanet 2 has seemingly become more and more insane thanks to the release of a Media Molecule’s video features showcasing the developer’s brilliant-looking title.
This time, the studio would like you to see something called ‘The Creatinator,’ a tool used to create (…) and shoot any objects of your creation (or included with the game) out into the game world in order to solve puzzles, and perform other neat tricks.
Here’s a better explanation from the European PlayStation Blog:
A brand new LittleBigPlanet 2 featurette video has been released by the fine folks over at Media Molecule to shine a spotlight on an entity in the game known as ‘Sackbots,’ little (or big!) programmable characters that you’re able to use either to help you during your adventure, or to simply perform cool tasks and animations during cinematics!
Here’s a bit of a better explanation from the PlayStation Blog:
After the disappointing news that LittleBigPlanet 2 had been delayed until 2011 from it’s previously scheduled November launch date, a new North American release date has been announced.
