The folks over at semi-official Sony blog ThreeSpeech have received a statement from Sony packed full of interesting tidbits about LittleBigPlanet.
First up LittleBigPlanet fans have uploaded a whopping 84 000 individual levels so far. You eager Sackboy players have also completed over 27 million level play throughs!
It appears that this has made Sony and Media Molecule very happy indeed. Here is the official word: “We couldn’t be happier with the initial efforts from our community members; the variety and quality of some of the creations has been astounding. We’ve seen everything from great platform adventures, puzzles and quizzes through to stories and races. We have even had a wedding proposal created entirely in the game!”
The statement goes on to congratulate players for uploading “fun and suitable” content. Apparently only 0.5% of levels created by naughty gamers have been modified (although this figure has caused some contention among players). To ensure your content is classified as good clean fun, remember that even little LittleBigPlanet fans can access any levels that are published; to not use brands or logos that aren’t yours; and to let the boss know if anything rude pops up.
Media Molecule’s much anticipated PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet has gone gold. The game will be available across North and Latin America on the 21st of October, while gamers from Europe, Australia and New Zealand will have to wait until the next day and the UK and Ireland until the 24th. The game will be released in Japan around the 27th.
LBP gamers can look forward to a free limited edition Spacesuit costume for SackBoy which will be available to download on the PlayStation Store during the first week only. You will also be able to get your hands on a “I was there Week One” T-shirt. If you pre-order the game you can secure more free goodies.
Media Molecule has promised content and features through the PlayStation Network on the first day of the launch so keep your eyes peeled.

Tucked away in a press release detailing SCEE’s PS3 line-up was the release date of Media Molecule’s highly anticipated LittleBigPlanet.
LittleBigPlanet will be released across PAL territories on the 29th of October. Earlier in the month the community-based game’s Japanese website revealed that it would be released on the 30th of October in Japan.
Starring Sackboy, LittleBigPlanet gives players the power to move anything in the landscape. Players can design, shape and build objects and locations as well as share these with other players via PlayStation Network.
While this is unconfirmed for the European release, US retailers will be unleashing extra LittleBigPlanet goodness on the world if you pre-order the game. For your efforts, you’ll receive:
- The Brady Games digital mini-guide to help get you started in creating your own levels
- A LittleBigSticker book, containing real stickers based on those used to customise levels in the game
- The LittleBigPouch for carrying the game
- As well as downloadable costumes in the form of Nariko (from Heavenly Sword) and Kratos (from God of War)
Hopefully these make their way to non-US retailers as well when it’s released in October. Pictures of the pre-order items follow below.

This is according to the Japanese website for the game, which displays a date for the game’s release in the bottom left corner.
A release date for America and Europe has yet to be announced although Sony has previously stated that the game would be available on the PS3 this October.

Is anyone not looking forward to LittleBigPlanet? The platformer that allows you to create your own levels, objects and, basically, your own experience, is hopefully coming out this year.
