The PSP has undergone many hardware revisions and cosmetic changes since it launched in 2005. The best version so far has to be the PSP-3000 which has a built-in microphone and a radically improved screen compared to previous models. The PSPgo has a neat, compact form factor but it can’t play UMDs and the screen is 0.5 inches smaller (diagonally) than other PSP models.
At gamescom last week Sony announced a new model of PSP - the E1000. Priced at just €100, it will go on sale across PAL territories this November. The budget model lacks certain features which some gamers might miss - Wi-Fi, stereo speakers and a built-in microphone. The new model is also a bit bulkier than the PSP-3000 - weighing 223g as opposed to the 3000’s 189g.
Media Go is the Sony equivalent of iTunes. It allows you to organise and browse your media library on PC, and also serves as a PC-based content management tool for PlayStation Portable as well as other Sony devices. You can use it to access the PSP side of the PlayStation Store, back up game saves and transfer any other content from your PSP to your PC’s hard drive.
