The PSP holds on quite convincingly to the best-selling console title in Japan for another week. In fact Sony’s handheld almost doubled its sales this week, with the latest Media Create figures showing that it sold 64 808 copies for the week ending the 7th of March, up from last week’s 37 338.
Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light for the DS has debuted at the top of the Media Create Japanese software chart, selling 161 000 copies for the week ending the 7th of March.
.hack//Link for the PSP is also new at number 2 with 60 000 copies while Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for the DS enters the chart at number 3 with 41 000 copies.
The PSP still rules the roost on the Japanese hardware chart, but the Wii is sneaking closer every week.
The latest Media Create figures show that the PSP sold 37 338 units for the week ending the 28th of February while the Wii sold only marginally less, 36 241 units. The PSP gets a sales bump this week, up roughly 4 500 units from last week, while the Wii also climbs up approximately 4 500 from last week.
The Media Create software chart is awash with new entries this week, with no fewer than four titles debuting in the Top 10 and even more lower down the chart.
Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou for the PSP is new at number 1 with 71 000 copies while Super Robot Wars OG: Saga Endless Frontier Exceed for the DS debuts at number 2 with 65 000 copies.
The big news of the week for the Japanese hardware chart is that the PS3 beat the Wii, sales boosted by the debut of the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition at number 1 with 143 000 copies and Heavy Rain at number 6 with 27 000 copies.
The PS3 sold 32 130 units for the week ending the 21st of February, up from last week’s 24 811, while the Wii sold 31 652 units, plummeting down from last week’s 37 501.
The latest data from Media Create has revealed that Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for the PS3 has debuted at number 1 on the software chart with 143 000 copies.
God Eater drops one place to number 2 with 64 000 copies while New Super Mario Bros. Wii hangs on to number 3 with 44 000 copies. Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie moves down two spots to fourth with 41 000 copies and Friend Collection sticks it out at number 5 with 31 000 copies.
Namco Bandai’s God Eater manages to hold on to the number 1 spot for a second week. The PSP title sells 110 000 copies for the week ending the 14th of February, after having debuted in the top spot with 295 405 copies last week.
Dragon Quest IV: Realms of Reverie continues to sell well in second place with 79 000 copies while New Super Mario Bros. Wii climbs one spot to number 3 with 59 000 copies. Prince of Tennis: Prince of School Festival for the DS debuts at number 4 with 44 000 copies and Friend Collection is still at number 5 with 38 000 copies.
The PSP manages to stay ahead of the competition on the Japanese hardware chart. The latest Media Create figures show that Sony’s handheld sold 47 875 units for the week ending the 31st of January, dropping quite substantially from last week’s 52 909.
The Wii continues to nip at its heels with 42 309 units, down roughly 3 000 units from last week. The DSi LL overtakes the PS3, moving into third place with 34 863 units. The latest iteration of the Nintendo DS handheld receives a boost (up 10 804 units from last week) thanks to Dragon Quest VI: Realms of the Reverie which debuted at number 1 on the software chart with 906 000 copies.

Resonance of Fate for the PS3 is also new at number 2 with 118 000 copies while the Xbox 360 version debuts a little lower at number 8 with 27 000 copies. New Super Mario Bros. Wii drops two places to number 3 with 84 000 copies while Ar Tonelico III for the PS3 enters the fray at number 4 with 82 000 copies.
The PSP remains the king of the roost on the Japanese hardware chart, however, the Wii closes the gap further for the week ending the 24th of January. The latest Media Create figures show that the PSP sells 52 909 units while the Wii follows with 45 167 units, both down quite substantially from last week’s 71 186 and 57 349 units respectively.
Valkyria Chronicles for the PSP debuts at number 2 with 94 000 copies on the Japanese software chart for the week ending the 24th of January. However, it just isn’t a strong enough debut to beat New Super Mario Bros. Wii which climbs one place to re-claim number 1 with 111 000 copies.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s Portable: The Battle of Aces for the PSP is the second new entry in the Top 10 this week and sells 76 000 copies. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep falls to number 4 with 59 000 copies after spending two weeks at number 1, while Tomodachi Collection drops one spot to fifth with 45 000 copies.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep retains its position on top of the Japanese software chart for a second week. According to the latest Media Create figures the PSP title sold 177 000 copies for the week ending 17th of January after debuting strongly last week with 446 000 copies. It’s life-to-date sales have already passed the half million mark and now stand at 623 000.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii sticks it out at number 2 with 139 000 copies, fighting off competition from Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles which enters the chart at number 3 with 73 000 copies. Friend Collection tumbles one place to fourth with 55 000 copies, as does Wii Fit Plus to number 5 with 42 000 copies.
The PSP shoots to the top of the Media Create Japanese hardware chart with combined sales of 148 522 units for the week ending the 10th of January. No real surprise given that Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PSP debuted at number 1 on the software chart with 446 000 copies. The DS crept along steadily behind the PSP with a combined total of 105 466 units.

The latest Media Create figures show that Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep sold 446 000 copies for the week ending the 10th of January, although it was only on sale for just two days within this reporting period.
As a result New Super Mario Bros. Wii slips to number 2, although it continues to sell well with 159 000 copies. Friend Collection and Wii Fit Plus remain popular choices, with the DS title falling one place to number 3 with 94 000 copies and the fitness sequel climbing one spot to number 4 with 54 000 copies.
