Coming soon to Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and PC, the just-announced Mass Effect 3 ‘Rebellion Pack’ will add new multiplayer maps, weapons, gear and kits to the experience you know and love.
The best part? Rebellion Pack is completely free for anyone who has redeemed their Online Pass for Mass Effect 3, so if you’re already playing the game online, this content is on its way to you.
505 Games and Rebellion’s Sniper Elite V2 has maintained its position at the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week despite a 38% sales drop, making it two in a row for the brutal, bone-crunching X-Ray shooter.
EA has released its financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012. The report suggests that EA enjoyed a highly profitable period during the latest fiscal year with its digital distribution service Origin topping 11 million registered users and Mass Effect 3 taking over $200 million at retail.
It’s funny how a shorter week can seem longer than a normal one. But never fear, because the weekend is upon us again and we’ve got some awesome relaxing and gaming time planned!
Prototype 2 brutalised the competition this past week by becoming the latest top-selling game on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, coming out ahead of FIFA Street, FIFA 12 and Mass Effect 3.
Surprisingly, this is Activision Publishing’s first No. 1 on Chart Track’s all formats sales chart and despite launching on a Tuesday around the world, it still doesn’t match the first week sales performance of the original Prototype, when that game was released in June 2009.
UK sales tracking firm Chart Track says that only one new game entered its weekly list of Top 40 best-selling games in the region this past week. This single debut entry to the sales chart also happened to become the UK’s latest No. 1 game on the listing.
That game’s name? The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition.
Despite a bit of a slip last week as Kinect Star Wars claimed No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software sales listing, FIFA Street (sales down 22%) has re-entered that lofty position, giving the title four (non-consecutive) weeks at the top of the chart.
US sales analyst firm The NPD Group has released its latest report on the state of the country’s videogame industry with data on sales for the month of March across hardware, software and accessory categories, showing a 25% year-over-year performance drop to $1.1 billion in revenue, compared to the same period in 2011.
NPD’s Anita Frazier wrote in the report:
Following the block-rocking news that BioWare will soon release a free downloadable content pack to clarify the endings of Mass Effect 3 and hopefully provide closure for millions of players the world over, and after the announcement of multiplayer DLC, we now learn that a very important patch is set to arrive for the game, soon.
How soon is soon? Today and tomorrow soon!
Starting April 10th, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer gamers will be able to grab a downloadable content pack that is set to add a cracking amount of new characters, weapons, levels and ‘consumables’ to the game thanks to the ‘Resurgence Pack.’
Get full details on what you can expect to find in Resurgence below with official descriptions and a fantastic new trailer:
BioWare and EA have just announced that a downloadable content pack titled ‘Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut’ will be released ‘this Summer’ to address fans’ concerns over Mass Effect 3’s original selection of endings.
The content will seek to expand upon the events shown at the end of Mass Effect 3 and provide “clarity to the ending of the game,” using additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes to do so.
BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said of the Extended Cut:
EA takes the UK videogame sales chart by storm this week and holds four places in the top five and a total of six places in the overall Top Ten, which is a master achievement by anyone’s standards.
Earlier this month we celebrated the launch of Mass Effect 3 by giving you a chance to win the spectacular N7 Edition for Xbox 360, kindly sponsored by our friends at EA South Africa.
I’ve had firsthand experience of just how awesome the Mass Effect 3 N7 Edition as I ‘helped’ my wife unbox hers on launch day. Let’s just say her FemShep looks very stylish in the N7 hoodie she constantly wears around the Normandy!
The last few months have seem some surprising partnerships working their way into various games. From Ezio (of Assassin’s Creed fame) being a playable fighter in Soul Calibur V to Capcom and Namco Bandai collaborating on Street Fighter X Tekken, it seems game publishers are more than willing to work together if it’s profitable for both companies and provides their properties with greater exposure.
Mass Effect 3 took the world by storm when it was released on the 9th of March this year. Since then it’s been dominating headlines across the world, and now it’s set to do so again as we announce the winners in our Mass Effect 3 competition.
You can stop holding your breath now. But only if your name is….
