Following a Nintendo earnings call and investor report (and an exciting piece of news about a successor to the Wii), the company has revealed new life-to-date sales numbers for its top-selling titles across the DS, Wii and 3DS for the period ending March 2011.
All bundled together in a helpful list, every Nintendo title appearing on this chart is very special indeed. Why?
Because they’ve all sold over one million copies apiece!
With all of these new competitions springing up on El33tonline, it’s finally come time to announce who won copies of Mario Sports Mix for Nintendo Wii!
Mario Sports Mix is the latest party game from Nintendo proper, with an awesome sports theme that sees everybody’s favourite characters from the Mushroom Kingdom competing in Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey and Dodgeball, but because this is a Mario game each of these sports has a unique twist to keep things interesting, and each character has their own special ability to spice up the action!
We asked you which sport you were most looking forward to play in the game, and you sure did answer! So… who won copies of Mario Sports Mix?
Mario Sports Mix is the first Mario sports game in a very long time. This was one of my favourite genres on the GameCube; Mario Power Tennis, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Smash Football were all played to death by me in both multiplayer and single player. With the Wii these crazy sports games seem to have been replaced by the Wii Sports series (which is great, but quite different), and so I had hopes for Mario Sports Mix to return to the quality of those character driven games of the ‘Cube era. Unfortunately my hopes were not met – the depth and quality of those games has not been matched by Mario Sports Mix. It’s still a fun sports game, especially with some friends, but it’s ultimately a shallow experience more suited to party gaming.

See what strikes your fancy for some weekend gaming:
Two of the top games releasing today in South Africa are about as polar opposite as you can get, but both promise to be incredible fun in their own right!
One is a horror-filled singleplayer nightmare, while the other is a delightful multiplayer party game wonderland!
One game features zombie aliens, and the other game stars smiling mushrooms and characters wearing brightly-coloured clothing!
One game is for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, while the other is exclusive to the Wii!
Have you guessed these games yet? C’mon… they’re right there in the header!
Mario Sports Mix is to be the latest Mushroom Kingdom-themed compilation title, this time including four well-known sports, all of which have been imbued with handfuls of unique Nintendo magic!
As a frenetic multiplayer (or hectic singleplayer) game, you’ll be able to play Mario Sports Mix as one of your favourite Nintendo characters (as well as some Square Enix characters) against your friends and family in each of the four sports, namely Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey and Dodgeball.
Mario Sports Mix is a new and upcoming Wii title that includes different sports (namely volleyball, basketball, ice hockey and dodgeball) for players to compete in while taking control of fan-favourite Nintendo characters like Mario, Bowser, Wario and Yoshi, only with the kinds of twists you would expect from a competitive sports game set in the Mushroom Kingdom.
It’s recently been revealed, however, that you won’t be limited to just Nintendo characters when you’re met with the selection screen: beloved characters from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series will make an appearance in Mario Sports Mix, too!
Another surprise coming out of Nintendo’s E3 press conference last night was a new Mario sports game. Mario Sports Mix sees up to four players participating in four sports games in the Mushroom Kingdom: volleyball, basketball, ice hockey and dodgeball.
Nintendo just wrapped up their E3 press conference and be assured that it didn’t disappoint! In addition to revealing the new Nintendo 3DS, the publisher showed off Wii Party and Metroid Other M and even managed to pull off more than a couple of surprises with the unveiling of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Sports Mix, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong: Country Returns, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Goldeneye. We also got a taste of Just Dance 2, Disney’s Epic Mickey, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.
