Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow for 1200 MS Points, giving Sam “Serious” Stone fans the chance to battle Mental’s army in high definition.
The game is based on the original indie arcade shooter Serious Sam: The First Encounter and features “redesigned visuals, over-the-top action and intense online co-op for up to four players.”
With the release of Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD just around the corner, Majesco has released a new trailer for the game.
Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD will be available tomorrow (the 24th of November) for PC through Steam for $19.99. However, it is still unclear when the game will be available on the Xbox Live Arcade.
Majesco has partnered with Tetris Online Inc to bring two new versions of the popular puzzle game Tetris to the Wii and DS next spring.
That’s all we know at the moment, other than the two partners are happy to be working together, as evidenced by these comments.
Things have been relatively quiet on the Serious Sam front since we learned of Majesco’s plans to bring the popular Serious Sam franchise to Xbox Live Arcade back in June.
Remember that Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is a “grab you by the jibblies run and gun, twitch FPS: BIG guns, TONS of enemies, 4-Player Online Co-Op and stunningly superfluous HD graphics that rival retail boxed games.”
What better way to validate this claim than with a new hard-hitting trailer.
Majesco Europe has announced that Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade in late summer.
Croteam, creators of the popular Serious Sam franchise, will be in charge of development of the game which will be produced in partnership with Devolver Digital. Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD will be revamped in HD thanks to a new version of the CroTech engine.
The game will also be released for the PC to retail and digital download but PS3 fans have been left out of the Serious Sam action. Serious Sam HD is said to “stay true to the source material, as our hero takes on Lord Mental’s forces across a variety of battlegrounds set in various ancient civilisations.” The developer promises that the gameplay remains “as intense as ever and the humour intact,” except will be in “glorious high definition!”
Majesco has announced a new puzzle platformer for the Wii titled Flip’s Twisted World.
Developed by Frozen North Productions, the game is said to “trap players in a world where nothing is as it seems” with players navigating “topsy-turvy environments where up, down, left and right are only a matter of perspective.”
The story follows wizard apprentice Flip as he gets sucked into a crazy cubed universe after messing with a magic artifact. In order to escape Flip must turn the entire world to reveal new paths and possibilities as he journeys through five puzzle worlds. Twist the Wii Remote to rotate the environment 90 degrees in any direction. Consequently walls become floors and obstacles become openings. The game also includes optional side quests where players can unlock secrets and costumes.
Majesco Entertainment have announced that their successful virtual cooking game franchise, Cooking Mama, has sold over four million copies in the US alone. Chief Executive Officer at Majesco, Jesse Sutton said of the achievement:
“We are thrilled to reach this significant milestone. Majesco’s #1 franchise continues to resonate with gamers of all ages and genders.
“We will continue to explore ways to expand the Mama brand with innovative and compelling products that offer new entertainment experiences.”
The Cooking Mama franchise, which comprises five games on Wii and DS (namely Cooking Mama and Cooking Mama 2 on DS, Cooking Mama: Cook Off and Cooking Mama World Kitchen on the Wii, as well as Gardening Mama on the DS), was originally developed by a Japanese studio called Office Create, but after the success of the series, is now only known as Cooking Mama Ltd.
Majesco has announced that it will be bringing a reimagining of the 1989 NES classic a boy and his blob to the Wii.
While the first screens of the game look intriguing, you may be wondering how the gameplay is shaping up. So, without further ado, here’s the first gameplay footage of a boy and his blob for you to enjoy.
Yesterday we brought you news that the latest edition of Nintendo Power had revealed the development of a boy and his blob for Wii. Today Majesco released more details about a boy and his blob, which is being released to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary.
The game first appeared on the NES in 1989 but now WayForward (known for Contra 4 and Shantae) will be developing a rebirth of the classic title that promises to expand upon the original platform adventure, feature “groundbreaking hand drawn and painted animation technology” and provide a “polished, cinematic feel” thanks to the all-new presentation.
Publishing and development house, Majesco, has unveiled a new label for their casual, family-friendly Wii games called Go Play.
Go Play will initially see the release of three games under the label, namely Go Play Lumberjax, Go Play City Sports and Go Play Circus Star, all of which emphasise the use of motion-control based gaming, and utilise the Wii Balance Board.
Go Play Lumberjax will be the label’s debut title, releasing in late spring, with acitivities that include those you would find in a lumberjack game, such as sawing, chopping and climbing of trees.
Go Play City Sports, a summer release under the label, will contain six ‘street’ versions of classic games, with obstacles in the form of cars and manholes. Go Play Circus Star will follow in the fall, which features fifteen circus-themed games.
“The Go Play brand is intended to deliver on the promise of active, fun, family friendly game experiences,” says Majesco’s EVP of operations Gui Karyo. “Our first three products intermix every day activities with imagination to define an overarching label that means ‘motion-based fun for everyone.’”
Majesco has announced that they may be delisted from the NASDAQ, unless their stock price rises above the required minimum of $1.00 for ten consecutive days, as the rules of the marketplace dictate. Majesco, who trade under the name COOL, has had their stock price at a fluctuating $0.90 as of Friday last week.
Majesco have been given 180 days from the date of notification to improve their stock price, which means they have until February 18th 2009 to achieve the requirements. When that time is up, and if Majesco’s stock price does not reach the required $1.00, NASDAQ will re-evaluate Majesco and, provided they meet all of their other minimum listing requirements, Majesco will be given a further 180 days to improve their value.
Majesco has seen a slight rise in fortunes after deciding to pursue the casual market, with Cooking Mama and Bust-a-Move Bash! performing well, contributing to $29.1 million in sales for the first half of last year. Sales from that period are also up, to $31.4 million, despite a drop in sales in the second quarter this year, to $12.8 million, as compared to sales of $14.6 million in the same period last year.
Majesco Entertainment have announced that Bananagrams, “The award-winning anagram game that will drive you bananas,” will be coming to Facebook.
Bananagrams gives players a set of letter tiles from a central tile pile, with which they need to form words. The thing is, all of the players will be placing their tiles at the same time, creating interconnected words simultaneously, instead of in a turn-based manner. Once the available tiles from the central pile are used up, the first player to use their own tiles wins. This sounds familiar…
Facebook players can play solo or with up to eight people online, while also having access to two single player modes to hone your skills or to try and beat word-creation times set by your friends. Bananagrams will be available as a FaceBook application on August 18th. Mark you calendars!
Majesco has decided to whip up another Cooking Mama title for the Wii in time for the holiday. Cooking Mama World Kitchen features 3D graphics, new recipes and modes as well as comedic kitchen mini-games.
Developed by Cooking Mama Limited, the game sees players simulating cooking using the Wii Remote as a kitchen utensil. Prepare to chop, slice and stir your way through new recipes but look out for comedic mini-games if you slip up during preparation. For example, Mama will try and save a burger you flip too high in her apron.
A new game play mechanic that integrates Wii Remote utensil play with additional rhythm and motion to make cooking more fun and easier.
“The Cooking Mama franchise continues to be a best seller at more than two million units sold to date. An original idea, inherently fun execution and Mama’s appeal have clearly resonated with both Wii and Nintendo DS audiences,” said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco.
“Mama’s newest iteration, Cooking Mama World Kitchen, builds on this success with a host of feature enhancements that improve the cooking experience and deliver more of the unique personality that has made Mama such an endearing video game character.”
