Sales tracking and research firm The NPD Group recently released its latest monthly report regarding the performance of the US videogame industry, this time for the month of September 2011. The report shows that sales across all segments of the market were down 6% compared to the 2010 results of September, with hardware, software and accessories racking up $1.16B in revenue.
American football, represented by the National Football League or NFL, is not a big sport in South Africa or the rest of the world since it’s only played in the United States, but somehow it attracts fans from all over the world. Reading over the new features of Madden NFL 12, however, got me really excited to dive back into the sport and with this latest edition of the franchise, EA has mostly tackled core gameplay issues that have plagued the series in the past.

The promised demo for Madden NFL 12 is now out and available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox LIVE Gold members, but what will we be able to see in the taster?
If you’re one of those people that bemoan the annualisation of sports game franchises and decry the addition of minor perceivable improvements and roster updates to games like FIFA and Madden, and if you’re a hardcore sports game fan that wants to get your hands on these latest games as soon as possible, EA and EA Sports have just launched a solution.
The ‘EA Sports Season Ticket’ has been launched across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms for four of the publisher’s biggest sports titles, namely FIFA, Madden NFL Football, NHL hockey and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
This programme is said to provide “premium benefits for a better gaming experience” for the included sports titles, but what exactly does this mean? Let’s investigate!
EA Sports has announced that the demo for Madden NFL 12 will be available on the 9th of August.
