Following the exciting news that Limbo is officially heading to the PlayStation 3 and PC, indie developer Playdead recently announced release dates for the studio’s excellent 2D (and creepily atmospheric) puzzle adventure game across both platforms.

It’s been a number of weeks since a new Xbox LIVE Activity chart has been released, but Xbox frontman Major Nelson has done due diligence and compiled an exhaustive list of the most played and best selling games on Xbox LIVE for the seven day period ending April 11th.
And wouldn’t you know it? Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are still sitting at the top of the ranking!

The winners of the 14th annual Interactive Achievement Awards were announced at a ceremony last night, after an extensive list of nominees was announced in late January by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS).
As has become the trend at award ceremonies for games released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption cleaned up and took no less than five awards in categories such as ‘Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction’ and ‘Outstanding Character Performance,’ while Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2 and Limbo also received multiple awards.
But which title won ‘Game of the Year’?
The full list of awards winners in 24 categories follows below:
Xbox frontman Major Nelson has provided us with some very interesting data this day in the form of a new Xbox LIVE Activity chart… but this is no ordinary activity chart, no-sir!
This compiled listing looks at the launch week activity (the first seven days) of various titles on Xbox LIVE over the course of 2010. Only games release last year were included in the chart, and only the top games in each category made their respective lists.
Based on unique users worldwide in 2010, you can see the top most played games on Xbox LIVE, the best-selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games, and the best-selling Xbox LIVE Indie games, all within the first seven days of their respective availability:
A little boy wakes up in a forest. Who is he? Why is he here? How did he get here? What should he do here? LIMBO asks all these questions without providing an answer.
Alongside Braid, LIMBO is the poster-child in the modern “Are games art?” debate. Presenting a surreal world in a minimalistic black and white art style, it leaves everything open to interpretation. The game flows from one area to the next seamlessly with no tempo breaking loading screens or actual indication of your progress. You will find yourself playing this late into the night as you push on discovering the world of LIMBO without realizing it.

It’s time to kick the habit. I’ve been patient with you. I’ve been kind and I’ve offered professional help. But now it has to stop. This addiction to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out of control.
Don’t tell me that ‘millions of people play it on Xbox LIVE every week’ and that you’re ‘no different.’ If ‘millions of people’ bought those $15 map packs, would you do the same?
Oh…
You’re in too deep. You’re tearing our dorm room apart! We want to play Halo 3 and Call of Duty: World at War!
Elsewhere, on Xbox LIVE:
The tragic story of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is relatively unknown, but is heartbreaking nonetheless.
Known as ‘Modern Warfare 2’ to its friends, the game grew up happy and extremely popular in its younger days, but as it got older, and people began to turn on it due to inevitable backlash, its heart grew cold and black and it started to lash out at its old friends.
Even though its popularity never waned, Modern Warfare 2’s lust for attention grew and grew, and it was never satisfied with the friends that it had – it started to steal friends from other games, like Halo 3 and its brother, Call of Duty: World at War, by handing out expensive gifts, and coveted its newfound companions like precious jewels, jealously guarding them against the temptation of others.
And so we find ourselves in the current situation – Modern Warfare 2 is still the most popular game on Xbox LIVE, surrounded by a sea of ‘friends’ who would sooner turn on it when the next best thing comes along than stay and keep it company.
Elsewhere on Xbox LIVE…
