Videogame fans are among some of the most loyal and dedicated fans you’ll find in the world. We pre-order, we overspend our budgets on collectors editions, we queue for hours to be one of the first to get our hands on a game, and we fill our shelves with figurines.
One of the other things that we do is dress up. Whether it’s Ezio from Assassin’s Creed, the witch from Left 4 Dead or just scary zombies, videogame fans love to imitate their favourite videogame characters.
Here’s a few pictures of the fans we found wandering the halls of gamescom (don’t miss Part 2!).
Thanks to your zombie destroying efforts over the last few days, Left 4 Dead 2 players can look forward to the release of the ‘Dead Air’ downloadable content early – as early as next week, according to an official Left 4 Dead blog post:
Left 4 Dead fans will no doubt be aware that Valve is hard at work on the Cold Stream downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2. But what you might not know is that the developer has revealed an incentive for all you zombie-killing players out there.
The latest set of downloadable content (DLC) for Left 4 Dead 2 has recently been unleashed upon unwitting zombie hunters running around Xbox LIVE, but this time there’s a twist – this content is also available for the original Left 4 Dead.
If you’re looking to freshen up your Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 experience, then this DLC, entitled The Sacrifice, is definitely what you’re looking for, and is priced at 560 MS Points.
But before you go, you’ll definitely want to watch this amazingly epic debut trailer for the new content. It is, in a word, chilling:
Valve Software recently revealed that the next piece of downloadable content (DLC) for its pair of cooperative zombie shooters, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, will become available early next month (and early next week) for both Xbox 360 and PC players.
Entitled ‘The Sacrifice,’ this DLC is a prequel to the events that occur in Left 4 Dead 2’s DLC, The Passing, and will this time allow you to play as the survivors from the original Left 4 Dead.
Valve has released the first weekly mutation for The Passing DLC for its co-operative zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead 2.
The Passing DLC was released last month and introduced new single player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to the game. It also introduced a series of weekly game mode events dubbed “Mutations.”
Xbox LIVE Gold members who happen to enjoy cooperative zombie destruction in Valve’s Left 4 Dead will this week be able to buy the game’s Crash Course downloadable content (DLC) for as little as 320 MS Points, as it is now an Xbox LIVE Deal of the Week.
This offer is only available for one week, so if you haven’t yet got your blood-soaked virtual hands on the DLC yet, now’s the time, as it’s usually 560 MS Points.
During Microsoft’s X10 event, Valve was on-hand to show off new downloadable content (DLC) for their cooperative zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead 2, while also announcing that new DLC will soon become available for their original Left 4 Dead title.
Valve recently announced that the demo for their upcoming zombie themed cooperative first-person shooter, Left 4 Dead 2, is now available for all PC gamers (not just those of you who pre-ordered it this time) and Xbox 360 gamers who just so happen to be Xbox LIVE Gold members as well.
The demo gives players a taste of the new features in Left 4 Dead 2 over an above the original game, containing gameplay from a campaign called ‘The Parish,’ set in the New Orleans French Quarter, while also allowing players to glimpse all of the new infected zombies, and a variety of new melee weapons present in the full game.
If you’re a PC gamer, or you’re an Xbox LIVE Gold member, the Left 4 Dead 2 demo is available to you now. Silver members will get access to the demo next week, on November 10th, so don’t fret too much Xbox fans.
After the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference this year, a cry of foul (or a foul cry) went up amid the original Left 4 Dead community, voicing their concerns over developer Valve’s decision to release the next entry to the series so soon, and without adding a variety of promised add-on content to the first game.
Another problem that the Left 4 Dead community brought up was that they believed that Left 4 Dead 2 didn’t add enough to warrant a full-price retail product, instead thinking it would be best for the new content to be released by way of a downloadable, digital release, or at a reduced price at retail.
Naturally, for an internet-based community, an online petition group soon went up imploring Valve to rethink the situation, going on to amass a 40 000-strong list of followers who pledged to boycott the release of Left 4 Dead 2 unless their worries were assuaged.
Valve didn’t budge.
On its first attempt at trying to become accepted by the age ratings board in Australia, the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC), Left 4 Dead 2 had a miserable time and was ultimately rejected and denied a rating, which meant that Valve’s next zombie co-operative shooter wouldn’t be allowed to appear on store shelves in the country.
Valve recently appealed the rejection, however, by submitting a version of Left 4 Dead 2 to the classification board with altered content, in order to ease the board’s concerns over the game.
[Update] Details on what’s been cut from the Australian version of Left 4 Dead 2 follows below:
The new downloadable content (DLC) for Left 4 Dead, Crash Course, is now available for both Xbox 360 and PC users, so there’s just one thing left to do: play it!
Well, if you’re a PC player, you’ll also need to patch Left 4 Dead to fix some issues introduced by Crash Course. Details on that follow below.
But if you are an avid Left 4 Dead player, and you haven’t yet released 560 of your MS Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace to buy the DLC, or downloaded it through Steam (for free), here’s a quick gameplay video from the new content to entice you into doing so:
Crash Course, the brand new downloadable content (DLC) for Left 4 Dead, Valve’s zombie-infused cooperative first person shooter, is now available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, but beware of the price.
When the DLC was first put up on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, it was priced at 800 MS Points, which was incorrect – the only price you should be paying for Crash Course on the service is 560 MS Points.
Valve recently announced a firm release date for the upcoming Crash Course downloadable content (DLC) for their cooperative zombie themed first-person shooter, Left 4 Dead.
This is the same content that caused a bit of a stir when it was revealed that PC gamers would get it for free, while Xbox 360 gamers would have to pay 560 MS Points to enjoy its inner delights.
The new, recently announced Crash Course downloadable content (DLC) for Left 4 Dead, Valve’s zombie-infested, team-based horror shooter, will be free to download for PC players of the game, but Xbox 360 owners will need to cough up 560 MS Points if they wish to get their hands on the content, says Valve.
The new DLC, said to be releasing in September, includes new maps for Survival and Cooperative game modes, while also providing a “streamlined version of the game’s existing Versus campaigns,” which seeks to deliver a complete game of Versus in just 30 minutes.
Other features of the new DLC includes “a recharge timer for infected teammates” and balancing of the game’s item spawn behaviour, as well as new dialogue from the original cast and “an explosive finale” to the campaign, bridging the gap between the No Mercy and Death Toll campaigns.
Valve founder, Gabe Newell said of the new content:
