Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance isn’t out in the West for over two months but that doesn’t mean we can’t build our anticipation levels for its release with some fantastic new footage. Yesterday Square Enix released a batch of new screenshots for the game and today we can get a good feel for the English version of KH3D thanks to a nine-minute trailer featuring a variety of cut-scenes and gameplay footage.
The Kingdom Hearts series is well-known for its slick animation and vibrant visual style. Legendary Final Fantasy character designer Tetsuya Nomura once again serves as director on the latest iteration of Kingdom Hearts so you can be sure that Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will not disappoint from a visual standpoint.
It’s been two years since Square Enix released the excellent PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. The next major entry in this popular Disney-themed series is for the 3DS and has the slightly long-winded title ‘Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance’.
The Kingdom Hearts series was initially developed for home consoles (i.e. PlayStation 2) but shifted to portable platforms following the release of Kingdom Hearts 2. It’s remained on handhelds ever since and has graced the Game Boy Advance, DS and PSP. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is the first time the series has appeared on the 3DS and the game’s recent release in Japan was met with great commercial success.
One of the 3DS titles I’m most looking forward to this year is Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep on PSP is one of my all-time favourite handheld games, so I expect big things from the latest portable entry in this quirkily charming series.
