Just when you thought it was safe to come out, Microsoft go and add Bears to the Kinectimals ‘playlist.’ Not that tigers were particularly safe to begin with, now that we think about it.

During Microsoft’s recently held pre-gamescom Play Day El33tonline got to spend some quality time with a few furry friends that unexpectedly melted our hearts and left us eagerly anticipating the arrival of Kinectimals on Kinect for Xbox 360.

Kinectimals is a virtual pet game that lets you train and play with up to 20 different virtual cats, including lions, cheetahs and tigers, using arm and body gestures. Now that may sound like it’s been done before, but let me assure you that thanks to Kinect you have never interacted with animals on this level before. Even the most hardcore, and sceptical, gamer among us will assuredly be taken in by the cute factor of the game. But luckily there’s more to it than that, if you scratch a little deeper under the surface you’ll see impressive graphics and a sense of interactivity that’s bound to keep you coming back for more.

On a gloomy, wet and cold day in Cologne, Germany, El33tonline set off on an adventure through the streets of the city on a quest to discover the location of Microsoft’s pre-gamescom event, the ‘ Play Day,’ a product showcase that was said to give games media extended (and first time) hands-on time with a slew of Kinect titles, two blockbusters, and a few recently announced games and initiatives.

Once we found the event (situated in a peculiar location, in a row of highly unassuming buildings housing factory equipment), we also found that we hadn’t been led astray – there were indeed a host of upcoming Xbox 360 and PC (Games For Windows LIVE) titles available to play.

And play was done.

Kinectimals was demonstrated during the conference last night, with a young lady showing how you can stroke your cuddly looking tiger, hide from him and even play a skipping rope game with him.
