The US PlayStation Store continues to serve up more great content this week, with the latest update featuring plenty of new demos and DLC to get excited about.
The PlayStation Blog’s weekly podcast is often the first place you’ll hear news items related to the PlayStation Store release schedule. The latest episode of the ‘PlayStation Blogcast’ is no different, revealing that next week’s PS Store Update will feature a rather surprising addition - a free-to-play version of Killzone 3’s multiplayer mode!
We always knew that there’d be tons of new PlayStation Vita details revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, but what we’ve seen and heard over the last couple of days is even more exciting than I initially imagined.
One of the biggest features announced for PS Vita so far has to be its ability to play PS3 titles via Remote Play. The PSP has a similar feature which allows you to remotely browse your PS3’s XMB, listen to music and watch movies on its hard drive, or play PSone Classics. A couple of PS3 games such as Lair can even be played remotely on PSP.
It’s been another incredibly busy week here at El33tonline, not only because of a good, constant stream of videogame news, a few new reviews, an in-depth preview, and a host of competitions, but we also announced our attendance at rAge this year!
That’s right! We’ll be at booth 28 of rAge 2011 in Johannesburg, taking place at the Coca-Cola Dome from September 30th through October 2nd - if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by to take part in a few activities, giveaways and competitions, but if you won’t be there, we’ve got you covered.
All of this excitement and content tends to wear a person out, you know? So the team at El33tonline will be relaxing in the only way we know how - by playing games! Find out what members of the team will be busy with this weekend, and be sure to let us know what you’re playing, too:
If you’ve been considering buy a TV capable of stereoscopic 3D for some more immersive gaming, but you haven’t found enough good reasons to make the leap, the PlayStation Blog has tried to help you out with your purchasing decision!
Sid Shuman has posted up an impressive list of PlayStation 3 games, both available now and releasing in the next few months, that support (or will support) stereo 3D, meaning if you do decided to invest in a 3D TV, you’ll at least have something to play on it.
Here’s the list:
To commemorate the release of the third Killzone 3 map pack, Sony and Guerrilla Games will be holding a massive Triple-XP Weekend… starting today.
The third map pack for Killzone 3 is set to become available today (June 21st) and tomorrow (June 22nd) in North America and Europe respectively over the PlayStation Network, and will net you four maps new to Killzone 3 multiplayer.
Two of the maps in the ‘From the Ashes’ pack will be brand new Warzone levels, while two Guerrilla Warfare maps based on Killzone 2 multiplayer arenas (re-imagined and revamped for Killzone 3) will also feature.
You’ve got to admire the team over at Guerrilla Games for working so hard to improve its product even after it ships. This continued dedication to Killzone 3 is evident in the new patch, which went live today.
The notes for patch 1.10 can be found below and reference a bevy of new features including the ability to listen to music from your PlayStation 3’s hard drive during multiplayer matches. The patch also includes a number of fixes based on player feedback.
“To celebrate the return of the PlayStation Network and welcome you back to Killzone 3’s online battlefield,” begins a blog post on Killzone.com, “we’ve got a Double XP Weekend lined up!”
This is the best kind of celebration for multiplayer fans, I think.
Can you smell that? Sniff. It’s the weekend, and after another busy week at El33t Towers we’re all looking forward to kicking off our shoes, settling into the couch and playing some awesome games. How about you?
Find out what the El33tonline Team will be up to over the next two days to relax as we get ready to bring you more awesome news, reviews and competitions next week.
If you’re a fan of the Killzone series then you’ll no doubt be happy to hear that more Killzone action figures are now available.
This week’s US Playstation Store update is once again heavy on content, and there’s plenty to appeal to fans of a variety of different genres. PlayStation Plus subscribers get the awesome-looking Killzone 3 Steel Rain Map Pack for free, as well as a full game trial of Assassin’s Creed.
There are also two new downloadable titles for PSN - Dungeon Hunter: Alliance and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. The latter is an HD remake of the classic DS title which came out in 2009. There’s a 1.57 GB demo for it if you’re a little sceptical of how well a DS game can translate to an HD console. By the looks of it though, the graphics are highly detailed in a graphic novel sort of way, and certainly add a unique flavour to this week’s PS Store offerings.
It’s the end of a very busy week here at El33tonline, as we posted up more competitions, new batches of reviews, and tons of exciting (and disappointing) news!
It’s time to rest up, though, and what better way to do that than by meeting up with friends, powering up your favourite gaming platform, spinning up your favourite game, and immersing yourself in some digital delights? If there are better ways to spend your time, I would like to hear them! Mountain climbing? Pah! The beach? Please. Going to a movie?
OK, that actually sounds good, but gaming trumps them all!
Find out what we here at El33tonline will be up to over the next two days to relax and recharge for next week:
Oh boy! The latest patch for Killzone 3 is now live and available for download, bringing your version of the brutal first-person shooter up to 1.07!
This patch arrives ahead of the latest map pack for Killzone 3, Steel Rain, which will become available for European gamers later today, and then next week (April 12th) for our US counterparts.
You’ll be able to grab the Steel Rain content for €4.99 over the European PlayStation Store, and $4.99 on the US PlayStation Store (next week, obviously).
Watch the trailer for Killzone 3’s Steel Rain map pack below, and also scratch through the patch notes for version 1.07 to see what those fellows and fellowettes at Guerrilla Games have squeezed into the game this time:
It’s that glorious time of the week once again when we can sit back, relax and get some more gaming time in. So apart from wishing you all a great weekend, here’s a sneak peek into what the El33tonline team is looking forward to playing this weekend:
