The positive feelings I had about Kid Icarus: Uprising only got deeper when I delved further into this quality shoot-em-up from Project Sora and Nintendo. This is a must-play title if you own a 3DS and is one of the most accessible and enjoyable games to be released in a long time. This is also one of the few titles I’ve played that takes full advantage of the 3D effect to create an immersive experience that loses a significant portion of its appeal when you turn the 3D off.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of the biggest 3DS titles this year so its impending release (March 23rd) is cause for celebration. The game has been receiving rave reviews thus far, with Japanese publication Famitsu giving it a perfect score.
The Kid Icarus series previously had the unfortunate reputation of being one of Nintendo’s most neglected properties. Thankfully Super Smash Bros. developer Project Sora has been working on a Kid Icarus reboot for over two years now, and the resulting game - Kid Icarus: Uprising - is due out later this month.
Good news, Nintendo fans!
Nintendo of America and Europe have today announced launch schedules for their respective territories, revealing release dates and windows for a huge range of games across Wii, DS and 3DS, as well as the online stores for their platforms.
Even though we got some good news from Nintendo in the way of release dates this week, we also learnt that Kid Icarus: Uprising has been delayed into 2012.
Even in this day and age of internet scoops, Nintendo managed to surprise us with a few announcements at the publisher’s E3 press conference this year.
At the top of the list was the Wii U, Nintendo’s next home console and the successor to the Wii. The tablet-like controller for the Wii U has a touchscreen, dual analogue circle pads, motion controls, speakers, a microphone and a camera. The controller screen can be used instead of or along with HDTV.
At their E3 2011 press conference today Nintendo showcased 5 3DS games, one of which was Kid Icarus: Uprising. The game features the return of Medusa and her Underworld Army, and its up to Pit, the guy with Icarus wings, to save the world.
The game features flights which look a lot like those of Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies; the flight path is on rails but you can move Pit around the screen to dodge enemies using the analog control. To aim you use the stylus like you did the Wii Remote in Sin & Punishment, and the L button fires your ranged weapons and triggers melee attacks.
Kid Icarus: Uprising also features ground-based fights which are a more conventional third-person action-style, but it’s not clear how they control. Seeing that Masahiro Sakurai is in charge of development it’s not surprising that the action in the brief trailer aired by Nintendo is similar to Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Lots of screens after the jump!
Nintendo’s E3 press conference has just wrapped up and it sure was filled to the brim with announcements, trailers and more.
The publisher focused on their newly revealed Wii U console along with the Nintendo 3DS, for which they gave us a preview into five upcoming titles.
Following Nintendo’s preview event for its 3DS handheld earlier this week, bunches of exciting new information has emerged surrounding the device including date and price data, lists of features, and tons of announcements and reveals on new games.
In amongst all of this excitement, new batches of screenshots were released for a host of first-party Nintendo games scheduled for release on the 3DS this year, including Kid Icarus: Uprising, Mario Kart and Paper Mario.
Have a look through the new media below:
The 3DS is an exciting piece of hardware, not just for Nintendo or even gamers, but for the gaming industry as a whole. It is, in my humble opinion, game-changing and will change the way developers do games by removing many constraints placed upon them.
Already we’ve see many big publishers seizing the opportunity to become involved with Nintendo’s 3DS. I must confess I myself have never been a big fan of watching films on a console, to me it’s always been purely a gaming machine. But now I’m excited about the option to watch films in 3D on the 3DS because I believe it may be a better option than buying an expensive 3D TV.
A new Kid Icarus action game has been announced to be in development for Nintendo’s recently unveiled stereoscopic 3D handheld, the 3DS.
Nintendo just wrapped up their E3 press conference and be assured that it didn’t disappoint! In addition to revealing the new Nintendo 3DS, the publisher showed off Wii Party and Metroid Other M and even managed to pull off more than a couple of surprises with the unveiling of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Sports Mix, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong: Country Returns, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Goldeneye. We also got a taste of Just Dance 2, Disney’s Epic Mickey, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.
