Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has posted three new videos to the Soul Sacrifice website that collectively account for 34 minutes of the presentation that was held in Tokyo last Thursday. The videos feature English interpretation of the various speakers who took to the stage during the presentation - a sure sign that Sony intends to release Soul Sacrifice outside of Japan at some point.
While Sony has dropped a couple of teasers for Soul Sacrifice during the last few weeks, the game’s full unveiling took place today at a press conference held in central Tokyo. Many people had speculated that this PS Vita exclusive would be tied to Demon’s Souls due to SCE Japan Studio’s involvement in the project but it turns out that this is not the case. In fact Soul Sacrifice is the brainchild of Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune and is being developed by Marvelous AQL.
After a strange and tangled period of development for Capcom’s announced Megaman Universe, and very murky and unimpressive showings of the game, it’s just been announced that the publisher has cancelled work on the title.
Capcom veteran and game industry legend Keiji Inafune recently announced his departure from the company at which he has spent the last 23 years making games - an announcement that surely must have come as a huge blow for every development team that he was currently working with at the publisher.
One of the projects that Inafune had been working on, and had expressed extreme enthusiasm in, was Mega Man Legends 3, a project the luminary said had remained a dream of his since the last game.
Now that Inafune isn’t at Capcom anymore, and can no longer work on Mega Man Legends 3, who is left to take his place?
Legendary game developer, Capcom veteran and Mega Man steward Keiji Inafune has announced his resignation from the publisher and developer that he’s called home for 23 years.
At the end of the month, Inafune will leave Capcom and his position as Head of R&D Management Group, Consumer Games R&D Division and Contents Management Division.
In a blog post entitled ‘Sayonara,’ Inafune wrote:
[Update] Added a special video message from Mega Man Legends 3 Project executive producer, Keiji Inafune, below, as he talks about his enthusiasm for the new game. [End of Update]
After an absence of almost 10 years, Capcom has announced another Mega Man Legends game, this time for Nintendo’s upcoming handheld, the 3DS.
Entitled Mega Man Legends 3 Project, Capcom teases that fans of the franchise will have an opportunity to “be part of the development process like never before as they interact directly with the team!”
The publisher isn’t quite ready to reveal how that will happen, but says we’ll need to wait until Comic Con in New York to find out.
Executive Producer on Mega Man Legends 3 Project, Keiji Inafune, said of the game:
Capcom has been teasing a big announcement for some time now, and finally we get to see what the company has in store for its fans. The big announcement is…
Mega Man Universe!
A new game in the long-running Mega Man series of games, and planned for release over Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network, Mega Man Universe will be “a revolutionary take on the seminal classic, setting course for a new chapter in classic gaming.”
It’s classic, but also revolutionary!
