What terribly distressing events await us in Bioshock Infinite next year? What heart-rending actions will we be subjected to?
As the latest compilation trailer for Bioshock Infinite reveals, it’s not all Skyhooks, blazing action and Fourth of July Summertime celebrations in the game. There will be tragedy and poignant moments of reflection, too. There will be events that deeply affect us and make us question ourselves.
And we expect nothing less from Irrational Games.
Last week, GTTV ran an episode of the show dedicated to Irrational Games’ Bioshock Infinite with thoughts and discussion offered by studio head Ken Levine, as well as GT’s own Geoff Keighley, while the full E3 2011 demonstration was revealed for the first time to the general public.
Now, the full 15-minute video demo has been released sans Levine and Keighley to allow you to enjoy the action and visuals without interruption. Grab a hot drink (or a cold one, depending), settle in and let the excitement of Irrational’s next first-person masterpiece wash over you:
Those lucky enough to see the full Bioshock Infinite demo behind-closed-doors earlier this year would have been treated to one of the most exciting showings of a videogame in recent years, save for the game’s initial reveal last year.
Now that E3 2011 is done and dusted, Irrational Games has seen it fit to release that gameplay demo in video form in its entirety, with Ken Levine and GameTrailers TV’s Geoff Keighley discussing the contents of this incredible first-person action game in depth.
Absolutely, definitely not to be missed – watch the full 20-minute episode of GTTV featuring Bioshock Infinite now:
Irrational Games has been very careful in revealing the world, characters and story of the team’s Bioshock Infinite, and despite a number of screenshots, gameplay videos and collections of gripping information, we still haven’t caught a glimpse of the game’s main protagonist, Booker DeWitt.
Thanks to the latest edition of digital mag EGMi, that’s all changed.
Irrational’s art team has put together an incredible cover for the magazine, inspired by issue 141 of X-Men, ‘Days of Future Past,’ released in 1981.
Booker does have a bit of a ‘Wolverine’ thing going on, doesn’t he?
It’s official: According to the Game Critics Awards, Bioshock Infinite is one of the games to watch out for in 2012, and with very good reason – it looks all kinds of exciting!
From all of the videos, screenshots and information we’ve managed to collect on Bioshock Infinite, it’s effortlessly become one of our number one most anticipated games of next year and by far the most exciting first-person action game.
But if this excitement wasn’t enough, Irrational Games has gone and released a super teaser gameplay video to reveal a little more of Bioshock Infinite, with footage taken from the demo shown at E3 this year. While it’s packed with in-game video, it raises many more questions than answers:
Despite the jaw-dropping set-piece action and minute-to-minute gameplay snippets we’ve seen of Bioshock Infinite, there is still another potentially more exciting aspect to Irrational Games’ next title that we’re about to get a look at – ‘tears’ or ‘rifts.’
As chief protagonist Booker deWitt, you’ll be joined by the powerful Elizabeth who is able to manipulate and open up visible rifts in the world, and use these splits in space and time to the pair’s advantage.
But that’s not all. As you’ll see in the latest Bioshock Infinite developer diary below, Elizabeth is able to reach into different times completely, transporting you to different periods of history in the process.
Hair-raising stuff:
As is to be expected from a game in development at Bioshock creator Irrational Games (and a foregone conclusion if you consider game industry luminary Ken Levine is heading the project), Bioshock Infinite will play host to a far-reaching narrative with political intrigue that’s not only understandable, but exciting to uncover, too!
Two warring faction in the world of Bioshock Infinite fight for control of the floating utopian city of Columbia – the founding government lead by Comstock, and the revolutionary Vox Populi.
E3 2011 has brought with it a mess of important information regarding Irrational Games’ next title, Bioshock Infinite, with a tight batch of screenshots and jaw-dropping gameplay footage emerging from the event.
But that’s not all.
Bioshock Infinite is without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2012, moving the traditionally ocean-bound Bioshock series way, way up into the sky, while trading in the dark, dank hallways of Rapture for the bright and beautiful expanse of the sky city, Columbia.
But as utopian as life on Columbia may seem, something terribly wrong has happened (and is happening), and you as private investigator Booker DeWitt are tasked with finding and rescuing a genuine damsel in distress, Elizabeth.
Bioshock Infinite.
That’s all we need to say nowadays to instil an instant sense of excitement and wonder in anyone who hears those words. Well, anyone who happened to see that gob-smacking, jaw-dropping, stupidly amazing reveal trailer, in any case.
Bioshock Infinite.
And there we go again! Unfortunately, those words are going to have to be enough to keep us excited about Irrational Games’ next first-person action adventure extravaganza, because the game is only scheduled to release in 2012.
We can also feast on a few newly released screenshots until then, so make them last:
We can all agree that Bioshock Infinite is looking mighty. This can now be recorded as fact, following the release of an [unintelligible] gameplay video revealing new features, epic scenes and fantastic locations that we’ll be able to enjoy in the first-person action adventure game.
But there are still so many questions yet to be answered, many of which will remain a mystery until the game releases in 2012.
Some of these queries regarding Bioshock Infinite, however, are definitely allowed to be asked in the interim, and as Sid Shuman from the PlayStation Blog finds out, Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine may even answer them!
So, we may have jumped the gun and posted up that highly anticipated gameplay reveal video for Bioshock Infinite a day early… but we couldn’t help it! Put yourself in our shoes: you just happen to watch one of the most amazing, jaw-dropping pieces of gameplay you’ve ever seen and then… you keep it a secret?
Of course not, don’t be foolish! You share it with as many people as you can!
Now that the Bioshock Infinite video has officially been released, however, we’ve included the latest certified version of the footage on this page, along with five excellent screenshots from the game just in case you’re craving even more media:
