One of the most intriguing indie games due for release this year is Retro City Rampage - an open-world action title for PSN, XBLA, Steam and WiiWare that draws inspiration from classic games such as Grand Theft Auto III, Mega Man and The Legend of Zelda. Retro City Rampage is the brainchild of Brian Provinciano and began as a homebrew project ten years ago.

The Prototype 2 live-action trailer has created quite an exciting buzz in the local gaming scene due to two interesting facts. Not only has this trailer – for a game that was one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of 2012, it must be highlighted - been shot right here in South Africa, but it also stars Cape Town professional model Vince Andrews, who portrays the real life likeness of Prototype’s 2 protagonist, James Heller.

Jenova Chen, co-founder of Journey developer thatgamecompany, has revealed that his team’s next game will be announced sometime this year. Speaking in an interview with VG247, Chen also asserted that the developer was in negotiations with various publishers and could close a deal “in the next month.”

Capcom revealed Lost Planet 3 to a group of journalists from around the world during last week’s Captivate event held in Rome. The announcement was made at the reception dinner on the Monday night, where we were shown the debut trailer, while we were given a glimpse into gameplay the next day during a presentation with Capcom’s Andrew Szymanski and Kenji Oguro.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be releasing across European territories tomorrow, and over the past few days we’ve been giving you a closer look at the three forces you’ll face in the game (U.S.S. ‘Team Wolfpack’, Spec Ops ‘Echo Six Team’ and enemies) to give you a bit more insight before the game launches.

Today we continue your Operation Raccoon City education, this time with a question and answer session from Masachika Kawata, the producer of the game. He’s worked on many Resident Evil titles before this one, including Resident Evil 5, and he’ll give you a closer look at who his favourite character is and if we can expect to see Raccoon City 2 anytime soon. Final Fantasy XIII-2 Logo

A few weeks ago a number of gaming sites (El33tonline included) were invited to submit Final Fantasy XIII-2 related questions to game director Motomu Toriyama. Toriyama has had a prolific career at Square Enix, having worked on such classic titles as Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X.

Toriyama is no stranger to fielding tough questions as he also served as director on Final Fantasy XIII - a game that received a fair amount of criticism for its linear structure and lack of player choice.

It’s no secret that I am a Tomb Raider fan. I have watched as the series grew in popularity over the years, been dismayed when it began to crumble a little over the past few years, excited when The Guardian of Light bore testament to a reawakening of the might of Lara Croft, and amazed when the new re-imagined Tomb Raider was revealed.
