After a quick-fire round of reports and leaked screenshots, Activision has confirmed that Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is on the way.
When can we expect this DLC? Infinity Ward’s creative strategist Robert Bowling has the scoop:
Have you been the victim of map exploits in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? Have other players been destroying you with their favourite weapons?
Well, thanks to a recent hot fix update for the multiplayer portion of the game, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have rectified a few ‘issues’ in an effort to re-balance some guns and patch up some holes in Dome.
Here’s the list, as well as a list of upcoming hot fix changes you can look forward to:
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling recently announced that the latest patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now available across all platforms, bringing with it a few fixes and improvements, while future updates after version 1.06 are currently in the works and in discussion.
Infinity Ward has announced that there won’t be a Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 3 when the game launches in November.
After getting to grips with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Spec Ops Mission Mode and experiencing the game’s extremely refined and very impressive combat, I moved over one station at Activision’s press booth at gamescom 2011 to have a look at the game’s Survival Mode, which at first may seem like a regular wave-based co-operative mode in which you defend yourself from streams of enemies, but soon turns out to be something much more.
When I personally first saw the ‘Commando’ perk in action in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I thought it was ultra cool – who wouldn’t want to instantaneously close the gap between yourself and an enemy to perform a swift and effective melee kill?
That was when I saw a video of this ability. In-game, this perk is a little less ‘cool’ and a lot more ‘maddening’ as expert Modern Warfare 2 players made quick work of my virtual self by leaping at me (as if from nowhere) in a flurry of brutal, physical attacks.
Not fun.
Were you wondering if this year’s Call of Duty would be getting a Limited Edition version? Do you have your heart set on a ‘Hardened Edition’ of Modern Warfare 3?
It’s a good thing then that Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has just teased your first looks at this version of the game on Twitter, just to ensure your hopes are met.
From the tweet:
Do you feel as though you haven’t quite got your dose of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this week? Are you a little worried that you might go a little crazy if you’re not exposed to media from Activision and Infinity Ward’s next industry-crushing game?
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, because just a little ways below you can spot two brand new screenshots taken from Modern Warfare 3’s campaign.
Calm down:
At this point in time, the Call of Duty franchise is a force of nature and has grown in leaps and bounds with every iteration of the series as each subsequent entry has gone on to outsell the last.
The biggest surprise came last year when Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops went on to break videogame sales records and outsell Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (which had previously broken sales records itself) with 5.6 million units sold on day one of availability in the US and the UK, generating $360 million in revenue.
No doubt of special importance was the showing of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference (as opposed to, say, Sony or Nintendo’s events), and Infinity Ward’s own Robert Bowling and Sledgehammer Games’ Glenn Schofield took to the stage to give a live demonstration of the studios’ next blockbuster first-person shooter.
Activision has released three new screenshots for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Hopefully the publisher will keep the assets coming in the lead-up to the game’s release on the 8th of November for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
If this week’s debut trailer and these new screenshots are anything to go by, it’s going to be a busy time for us all!
Hit the jump.
Things have really started to heat up in the Modern Warfare 3 camp this week. Just yesterday we got our first glimpse of the game as the debut gameplay trailer revealed explosive in-game action as World War III erupts over the globe.
That was followed by news from Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling that the Modern Warfare 3 engine ‘moves beyond’ MW2 and that it runs at 60 frames per second.
Now Activision has unleashed a press release confirming that Modern Warfare 3 will be arriving on shelves across the world on the 8th of November.
“is [Modern Warfare 3] using a brand new game engine or is anything yet to be announced?” asked Twitter user Sebastian G. of Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward.
Bowling’s answer makes me relieved:
As promised, the debut trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just been unleashed onto unsuspecting internet denizens.
The trailer reveals the very first highly explosive in-game action from Modern Warfare 3 and features a variety of frantic street fights and large-scale encounters all over the globe as World War III erupts.
Do not miss this:
While it may seem as though we’ve created the ‘H33rsay’ topic category just for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, this is in fact not the case… despite the evidence.
In the latest bit of Modern Warfare 3 rumour-mongering, it seems as though we’ll all get our first official peek at Activision’s next blockbuster first-person shooter next week.
Regarding a possible Modern Warfare 3 debut reveal during the upcoming NBA Western Conference Finals, NeoGAF user Sho_Nuff82 posted:
