The pre-orders for Halo 3: ODST have now reached over 1.2 million.
According to VGChartz the pre-orders for the highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive now stand at 1.21 million copies. This means that over 200 000 people have pre-ordered their copies of the game this week, with just two weeks to go until the game hits shelves on the 22nd of September.
These great pre-order numbers have led VGChartz to predict that ODST will sell over 2 million copies in week one across the Americas.
A bunch of videos for the next set of new Halo 3 (and Halo 3: ODST) multiplayer maps have found their way into the tubes, which confirm that some good, classic Halo multiplayer action will soon be available for those of us getting a little tired of what’s already available.
The videos show off the environments contained in the three new maps, Citadel, Longshore and Heretic, all of which will ship with the next Halo game, Halo 3: ODST (and remain compatible with the original Halo 3) in addition to the previously released Heroic, Legendary and Mythic map packs.

A video documentary for Halo 3: ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), the next entry to the Halo game series, has been released detailing the crew, weapons and military technology systems you’ll have access to during the game, as narrated by Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity).
The trailer also contains a lot of in-game footage, so soak it all in below:
When the next entry to the Halo universe, Halo: ODST, was announced last year, member from developers Bungie stated how they didn’t view the title as a full-price, $60 game, and that, as far as pricing was concerned, they were think of something “value-oriented.”
During the week of E3, however, the final pricing structure of Halo: ODST was revealed to be the full $60, which naturally sent fans into a fit of rage, now being required to essentially pay for content they have already bought (Halo: ODST is packaged with previously release Halo 3 multiplayer maps).
Microsoft have responded to the outcry over ODST’s price, however, as a spokesperson says:
Either Bungie have made vast improvements to their Halo 3 graphics engine, or the team has learned how to take full advantage of their available technology, because these screenshots from their upcoming Halo 3: ODST shooter look truly amazing, with most of the ‘purple’ minimised to make way for a more realistic direction.
To showcase their new game, Bungie have released a ton of new screenshots, with some moving images also made available to fill in the blanks

(Update: Now includes debut trailers for the revealed games, including Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo: Reach and others.)
