Reports doing the rounds today point to the development of a 3DS-exclusive Castlevania game, currently going by the name of ‘Mirror of Faith,’ with top talent tipped to be working on the title.
Right, we’ve been turning a blind eye to this for long enough but the rumours and speculation have been whipping against the bow of SS El33t for far too long now - with E3 2012 (basically) just around the corner and an announcement due soon, we’re going to jump aboard this Black Ops 2 vessel and test its seaworthiness.
Avast! Prepare to be boarded, ye scoundrels!
What’s been the big rumour doing the rounds this day, January 6th 2012?
Why, nothing less than news surrounding the formal announcements of Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles at E3 this year.
[Update] Added response from VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda Softworks, Pete Hines. [End of Update]
Rumours and reports doing the rounds today concern the future (or not) of the next entry to id Software’s legendary DOOM series of first-person shooters.
According to a report on industry site Develop, ‘trusted sources’ have confirmed that several of Sony Computer Entertainment’s internal studios are currently working on games for the company’s PlayStation 4.
It really is only a matter of time before the next home console entry to the might God of War series is announced, whether it’s named God of War IV or not.
A recent posting on the Facebook page of PlayStation Mexico, however, may have just revealed that a new God of War game is in the works, and that it is indeed named God of War IV.
Accompanied by the game’s supposed logo, a description of the game was posted up on the page, and directly translated it goes a little something like this:
Publishers EA and THQ have both become fairly adept recently at ensuring gamers buy an original retail release of their games in order to gain access to features such as online play as well as additional content with the companies’ use of an ‘online pass’ system.
In short, every retail game comes standard with a code you’ll need to enter online to get into that title’s multiplayer mode, for example, and if you don’t purchase an original copy of the game (and instead buy it second-hand, say), you’ll need to buy that code to access the multiplayer.
According to a recent retail listing for a supposed Resistance 3/320 GB PlayStation 3 bundle, Sony and Insomniac will be implementing a similar ‘online pass’ system with the pair’s upcoming blockbuster shooter.
According to a report on DigiTimes citing assembly schedules at technology companies Foxconn and Pegatron, Sony plans to begin production of the PlayStation 4 at the end of 2011, in time for a launch of the console in 2012.
Many people in the gaming world were surprised when no mention was made of Grand Theft Auto V at E3 this year. It’s been over three years since Grand Theft Auto IV was released, and given the overwhelming success of that game it’s surprising that Rockstar North’s next GTA title has yet to be announced.
According to a post on Call of Duty fansite DigitalWarfare247/7, and a leaked promotional flyer from game retail giant GameStop, we may have just got our first bit of information on the third map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Have we just discovered the real name for Sony’s next handheld, the NGP? According to a swirl of reports doing the rounds, the word is ‘yes.’
One week ahead of E3 2011, the official, final name of the NGP could well be the ‘PlayStation Vita,’ or ‘PS Vita,’ which was allegedly the device’s original codename.
It’s not the best time to be a fan of Japanese games. Highly anticipated releases like Final Fantasy Versus XIII, The Last Guardian and Metal Gear Solid: Rising seem to be stuck in development hell judging by how long they’re taking to crawl their way to retail.
Those of us hoping for a timely release of Rising will be cringing at the news that leaked Gamestop documents in the Official Xbox Magazine’s possession point to a November 2nd 2012 release date.
While it may seem as though we’ve created the ‘H33rsay’ topic category just for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, this is in fact not the case… despite the evidence.
In the latest bit of Modern Warfare 3 rumour-mongering, it seems as though we’ll all get our first official peek at Activision’s next blockbuster first-person shooter next week.
Regarding a possible Modern Warfare 3 debut reveal during the upcoming NBA Western Conference Finals, NeoGAF user Sho_Nuff82 posted:
If you consider Heavy Rain to be one of your favourite titles, then you’ll no doubt be interested to know what Quantic Dream is going to develop next. I certainly am!
There’s no official word on what the studios’s next game will be (or even what platform it will appear on), but if you go on over to their website and click on the “Recruitment” tab you’ll get a good idea of what we can expect and how far away it is.
Fancy joining us for a bit of speculation and rumour milling? Great stuff, because we’re about to have a look at some unconfirmed information regarding the (unannounced) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Or should we say, Call of Duty: Elite? Let’s collect and dissect this data in the latest edition of H33rsay!
