Three artists from Interscope Records including Marilyn Manson will be available in a new track pack for Guitar Hero III tomorrow.

Flyleaf’s ‘Tina,’ ‘Carcinogen Crush’ from AFI and a remix of Marilyn Manson’s ‘Putting Holes in Happiness’ by Nick Zinner will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store for 500 Microsoft Points or £3.99.

Speaking of Guitar Hero, more evidence has been added to the smoldering pile of rumours that Metallica will soon follow in Aerosmith’s footsteps.

Metallica leader Lars Ulrich recently told MTV Multiplayer that “There’s an Aerosmith game out there that’s super successful, and if somebody’s gonna follow that up… We’re talking, and it’s exciting, and the people at Guitar Hero and Activision are rapidly becoming our best new friends in the world. You can put the rest of it together yourself.”

Top GunActivision is offering the ‘Top Gun Anthem’ as a free downloadable track for Guitar Hero III in celebration of the fourth of July.

The iconic song will be available to download for free from the 3rd of July from Xbox Live Marketplace and in the PlayStation Store.

Activision and Blizzard have teamed up to organise a free downloadable World of Warcraft track for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

World of Warcraft Logo‘I am Murloc’ is a thrash metal-style song that made its debut at the BlizzCon 2005 gaming convention. It is described as a “tongue-in-cheek tribute to the beloved race of fish-people by Blizzard Entertainment’s house band, Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain.”

Guitar Hero fans can download ‘I am Murloc’ on Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Store for the PS3 on the 26th of June in advance of this weekend’s Blizzard Worldwide Invitational event in Paris.

Coldplay will be making their debut on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock this week.

The three track downloadable song pack includes ‘Yellow,’ ‘God Put a Smile Upon Your Face’ as well as the new single ‘Violet Hill’ from the new album Viva la Vida which hits shelves on the 17th of June.

Guitar Hero fans will be able to download the Coldplay track pack on the 19th of June from Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.

The Guinness World Record for high score on a single song for Guitar Hero III has been broken.

13 year old Daniel Johnson shattered the record at Blockbusters’ Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon. Playing on an Xbox 360, Daniel scored 890 971 on ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ by Dragonforce at Expert level on his first attempt. Previous record holder Chris Chike scored 880 920 in March 2008, meaning that Daniel’s new world record eclipsed the previous record by over 10 000 points.

Daniel commented “I’m glad that I had the opportunity to break the record and help people learn about Education is Freedom.”

The Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon was an event benefiting Education is Freedom, a Dallas non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the education achievement of children in Dallas. The top five contestants were awarded prizes from Activision, Blockbuster and Southwest Airlines.

Activision and Def Leppard have partnered to release a three song track pack for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

The track pack will include the unreleased single ‘Nine Lives’ and Guitar Hero fans will get to play it before the band’s release of their new album.

The track pack will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace on the 24th of April and on the PlayStation Store in early May. It will also include live versions of Def Leppard’s ‘Photograph’ and ‘Rock of Ages.’

“Being involved with Guitar Hero is very exciting for us and adds a whole new layer of appreciation,” says Joe Elliott, lead singer, Def Leppard. “I know from personal experience how much more you get into the music by playing the game - which is why we were keen to explore this opportunity.”
