PlayStation Network LogoNot a whole lot going on over at the US PlayStation Store this week, save for a few interesting treats, downloadable content offerings, special price updates, a demo or two, as well as the usual assortment of themes and videos.

Oh, and if you’re a Bon Jovi fan (as some people profess to be), Rock Band 3 has an entire pack of songs to download from the ‘artist.’

Also, two downloadable games are now available in the form of Crescent Pale Mist for PS3, and Monster Jam: Path of Destruction for PSP.

PlayStation Network LogoIt’s another fantastic content update this week for the US PlayStation Store, as bunches of add-on content (Undead Nightmare Pack for Red Dead Redemption and the Sports Fan pack for Dead Rising 2, for example), a mass of demos (like for Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom), and full game downloads (Blacklight: Tango Down is up).

The usual assortment of great themes, avatars, videos and Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks are also up today.

Is there anything on the US PlayStation Store this week other than Double Fine’s Costume Quest?

No, I’m afraid not. Sorry would-be PS Store browsers, you’ve been had. You’re just going to have to use any money you would have spent on other content to buy Costume Quest.

It’ll be a fun time, for sure!

Costume Quest Logo

OK, so that’s not quite accurate - there is other content on the US PlayStation Store this week, but when Double Fine’s debut downloadable title hits the Store, all other content fades away.

It’s a bit of a subdued update this week for the US PlayStation Store, but only in comparison to previous crazy weeks that contained half a dozen demos, bunches of games and other excellent content.

PlayStation Network Logo This week, we’ve got full downloadable games in the form of Alien Breed: Impact and Deadliest Warrior: The Game, a demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, a considerable amount of downloadable content for a range of games, great new songs for Rock Band, and the usual assortment of interesting videos, wallpapers and themes for both PS3 and PSP.

In the past, we here at El33tonline may have claimed that this or that content update for the PlayStation Store was ‘the biggest’ or ‘the best,’ or even ‘the greatest of all time.’

No. I’m going to come clean here and say that this was all false lip service. We deceived you, fair reader, and for this we are sorry.

PlayStation Network LogoBut, how could we have known to reserve our praise of bounteous content updates until today, and this moment? Because it turns out that this week’s PlayStation Store content update for US users is by far the most amazing revision to the service we’ve ever seen!

There’s far, far too much content to discuss, but highlights include the addition of DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, demos for DJ Hero 2 and Enslaved, PSOne Import games Cho Aniki and Gaia Seed, free DLC for Dead Rising 2, DLC for Red Dead Redemption, a new set of PlayStation Plus content… plus much more!

It’s a quiet week on the European front in terms of new releases on the PlayStation Store. No new PSN games, no new PSone classics, only one PSP game in the form of Open Season which is released direct-to-PSP-Essential, along with a bunch of SEGA games becoming Essentials.

There are, however, some demos - you can check out NHL 11 and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X for a bit. Alternatively you could snack on some fun-looking DLC in the form of a Skate 3 Skate.Create Upgrade Pack, or another Marvel Costume Kit for LittleBigPlanet (and a Wild West one for LittleBigPlanet PSP), or perhaps some new, um, content, for PAIN, a new Mod for ModNation Racers or a Skins pack for Uncharted 2.

PlayStation Network Logo If you’re into Weezer, Neon Trees or The Black Keys there are also some new songs for Rock Band and Guitar Hero that might interest you.

But if none of that is interesting, check out the slew of fresh-from-GamesCom trailers for all the upcoming games on PlayStation 3 and PSP, including KillZone 3, MotorStorm 3: Apocalypse, Sorcery, Patapon 3 and God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

And if none of that piques your attention, how about a Fat Princess wallpaper? A mini called Fish Tank? A Savage Moon avatar? A Voodoo Crucifixion theme? There’s got to be something for you, right?

Another great content update on the European PlayStation Store? Fantastic, and just what I was looking forward to! Thanks Sony!

PlayStation Network LogoFirst up, we’ve got a demo for Mafia II, as well as a full version of the retro brawling game, Scott Pilgrim VS the World. Downloadable content (DLC) for both Dragon Age: Origins and Red Dead Redemption also feature today, and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for PSP is available for purchase and download as well.

Also today we… oh, what’s this? We’re getting a live incoming report from our European PlayStation Blog correspondent, Mike Kebby, who brings us this important message:

UPDATE: I’ve just been given the information about a new addition for PlayStation Plus today; Plus subscribers will have two week’s early access to PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap and have a 20% discount on it too. However, if you already own PixelJunk Racers then 2nd Lap is free.”

Excellent stuff, thanks for that update Mike!
