The Guinness World Record for high score on a single song for Guitar Hero III has been broken.

13 year old Daniel Johnson shattered the record at Blockbusters’ Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon. Playing on an Xbox 360, Daniel scored 890 971 on ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ by Dragonforce at Expert level on his first attempt. Previous record holder Chris Chike scored 880 920 in March 2008, meaning that Daniel’s new world record eclipsed the previous record by over 10 000 points.

Daniel commented “I’m glad that I had the opportunity to break the record and help people learn about Education is Freedom.”

The Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon was an event benefiting Education is Freedom, a Dallas non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the education achievement of children in Dallas. The top five contestants were awarded prizes from Activision, Blockbuster and Southwest Airlines.
