As a general rule, we try not to judge things based on their covers because they generally misrepresent what’s on the inside. When you pick up a game box and are greeted by a very vintage looking John McEnroe together with Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova, however, you can’t help but have your interests piqued. Throw into the mix four major Grand Slam tournaments, a crowd of licensed players together with an innovative control system and Grand Slam Tennis 2 sets itself up as a world class game.

Grand Slam Tennis 2 launched across PAL territories last week Friday, and is now available for sports fans to enjoy worldwide, playing as 20 of the best tennis players in history on all four Grand Slam venues.
EA has released a batch of new screenshots for their upcoming sports game Grand Slam Tennis 2.
Head below to see the players in action at the US Open, Australian Open and French Open, and look forward to the game’s release on Xbox 360 and PS3 across PAL territories tomorrow, the 10th of February, with North America following on the 14th of February.
It remains to be seen if Grand Slam Tennis 2 can topple Top Spin 4 from the tennis throne, but judging by what I’ve seen in the demo I reckon it’ll offer tennis fans stand-out features that were missing from 2K Czech’s offering.

Many recent sports games employ a dual analog control scheme to provide players with a level of precision which just isn’t possible using the traditional face button setup. Grand Slam Tennis 2 continues this trend by offering a default control scheme called ‘Total Racket Control’, with the ‘arcade button’ variant relegated to the options menu.
If you’ve ever watched a Wimbledon final you’ll know how tense a game of tennis can get. Certain finals are so close that one netted drop shot or botched overhead slam can lead to a shift of momentum which ultimately determines the difference between a player lifting the coveted trophy or finishing the tournament as runner-up.
rAge 2011 in Johannesburg was packed to the absolute brim with upcoming, unreleased games from developers and publishers of all sizes, and EA was once again fully present at the show this year with an excellent collection of titles.
2011 has already been a bumper year for tennis fans thanks to the release of the brilliantly realistic Top Spin 4 and the more arcade-orientated Virtua Tennis 4. Now fans of games based on the popular sport can look forward to another high profile tennis title releasing next year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The game in question is Grand Slam Tennis 2 which is being developed by EA Canada - the experienced studio behind such recent hits as FIFA 11 and NHL 11.
