EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: gothamcityimpostors
The fellows and fellowettes at Monolith Productions are a truly hilarious bunch, taking any opportunity they can to crack wise and give us all a good laugh.
Even the developer’s most serious titles, like FEAR, included a few great gags to elicit a grin or two, while previous titles like No One Lives Forever and Shogo contained had a wit and charm still unmatched in videogames.
The team’s latest title, Gotham City Impostors, is their most raucous and hilarious game to date, and it’s about to get even more out of control with the upcoming Rodeo Pirate Pack!
So Monolith’s “huge” announcement wasn’t quite as big as some people were hoping (the addition of pirates, going free-to-play et al), but what it is is excellent news for current players of the studio’s just-as-excellent Gotham City Impostors!
So what’s the news? A ‘huge’ (and free!) content update for the game! Let’s find out what we’re going to get (for free!) - new map, game mode and different languages? It’s all shown in action in a brand new trailer:
“On April 18th Monolith Productions will announce something bigger than breaded cats! More amazing than one cute baby animal snuggling with another baby animal of an entirely different species!
“That’s right, on April 18th, Monolith Productions will definitely maybe possibly totally announce… something. (Or not.)”
Monolith Productions sure know how to announce an announcement!
(Note: This review was written after the matchmaking and DLC patch for Gotham City Impostors was released, which means a number of issues the community had been experiencing on Xbox 360 have been ironed out. These issues are still mentioned in the review for context.)
At its best, Gotham City Impostors provides some of the most fast-paced and hilarious first-person action you’re bound to have online. Running through an abandoned carnival filled with bright, vibrant colours and bold, chunky architecture, you can’t help but laugh as you see faux superheroes and villains ziplining across the sky, leaping into the air and zipping past you on rollerskates, all while toting machine guns, katanas and pipebombs and quipping comical one-liners.
Did I mention the trampolines? There are trampolines, too.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim had begun to encroach on Call of Duty’s turf in recent weeks by claiming more and more popularity and play time over Xbox LIVE, managing to work its way up the Xbox LIVE Activity ranking list week after week.
Call of Duty doesn’t like that.
While Skyrim may rely on its ancient ‘Fus Roh Dah’ dragon shouts for strength, Call of Duty seems to have called upon legendary powers of its own - ‘Moh Wah Blah’ - and has banished Skyrim down the Activity list behind games like FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3.
For now, that is. For now.
Is it really Friday today? Is it really the end of the week? It sure is, and not a moment too soon! We’re almost at the finish line, folks, and once we cross that magical marker we’ll be in for some relaxing times with our favourite games!
Unless you’re working this weekend. Or studying. Or you’re going away and you won’t have access to your games. Or…
You know what? Let’s positate the negative and find out what members of El33tonline will be up to this weekend, and if you so desire, maybe you can get a few ideas of what you can do in-between the busy times over the next two days:
Yesterday we gave everyone another chance to snag a code for the Gotham City Impostors beta over Xbox LIVE to help you get into the game ahead of its release next week, and so El33tonline welcomes the latest additions to the Team Bats and Team Jokerz gangs!
Gotham City Impostors is pretty dang fun, you guys. Just the tutorial mission is a blast to play as you’re taught the ins and outs of using a gliding device to float about the place (and slam down into enemies), a rapid-use grapple hook (to instantly zip up walls) and roller skates (to leap over ramps). And what about those jumping springs?!
Can you even imagine the thrill of chasing down a rival Gotham City Impostor gang member using these tricks of the trade? Well imagine no more, because El33tonline is giving away another beta code for Xbox 360 so you can experience that thrill ride for yourself!
Ever since members of El33tonline got to go hands-on with Monolith’s Gotham City Impostors at gamescom last year, we’ve been chomping for another taste, as well as the release of the full game here in 2012.
Where in 2012 can we expect the team- and gadget-based first-person shooter to hit digital distribution platforms. Very soon!
Yesterday we ran a day-long competition to give three of our readers a chance to win a beta code for Gotham City Impostors, the next awesome game from Monolith (Shogo, No One Lives Forever, FEAR).
The winners were chosen across entries over Twitter, Facebook and comments on the site, but the question is, who won the codes?
Did you know that the public multiplayer beta test for Gotham City Impostors is now live on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3? You didn’t?
The beta for Monolith’s zany-looking team-based first-person shooter kicked off late last week giving Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network denizens the chance to experiment with tons of different weapon combinations across the provided maps, with character customisation options included to tailor-create your own in-game persona.
You’ve heard about Monolith’s upcoming team-based first-person shooter, haven’t you? You know, the one where you choose to play on the side of Team Bats or Team Jokerz and dart around sections of Gotham City wreaking havoc with all kinds of destructive weapons and gadgets?
The game that allows you to customise your character to your heart’s content with a massive range of accessories and gear inspired by The Batman and The Joker?
Yes, that team-based first-person shooter! The downloadable Gotham City Impostors!
With the recent news of a disappointing delay for Gotham City Impostors, a game most everyone here at El33tonline is anticipating, we got to thinking about other game delays and how they rank in the ‘disappointing’ chart. Or Dispoint-o-meter, if you will.
So after delving into the depths of disappointment, this Question of the Day asks:
What is your most disappointing game delay?
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has today announced that the release of Gotham City Impostors has been delayed, or “moved,” to February.
Have you heard about the insane six-versus-six multiplayer fun of Gotham City Impostors from Monolith and Warner Bros. Interactive?
If not, then Lisa’s excellent hands-on preview of the customisation-crazy first-person shooter will clue you in quick-smart, but if you would like a chance to get to play the game before it’s released early next year, then you should definitely sign up for the upcoming console beta!
How do we know about this beta? Thanks to a recently released and awesomely hilarious gameplay and feature trailer, which you can also watch below:
