Deep down in the Dungeons, only the Dragons can hear you scream…
‘Tis the season to be jolly, tralalalala, la la la laaaa.
Well, no, not quite. Ahem. It’s just Summer. Er. Well, summer in the Northern hemisphere, that is, and when it’s summer, there’s sales. Good sales. On games. Lots of games. Good games.
Check them out and see for yourself - you can score yourself some really great bargains!
It’s official: Following a bit of a weird PR stunt where the team faked its own death, and then announced its miraculous resurrection (dressed up as monks, no less!), Good Old Games is back online and ready to serve you up some… good old games.
And while the marketing ploy didn’t really go as planned and resulted in more than a few angry customers, the re-launch didn’t go so smoothly either as the PC game digital download service saw an unprecedented (and unexpected) amount of traffic swing through its virtual doors.
Maybe the PR stunt worked after all!
[Update] Added list of features coming to the new version of Good Old Games. Catch the details below. [End of Update]
After the two year-old digital download game site seemed to have temporarily shut down a mere few days ago, Good Old Games has announced that it will soon return with “a brand new GOG.com with new, huge releases.”
Posting on the official site, Good Old Games deeply apologises to the community for deceiving them into thinking the service was shutting down, but go on to put the speculation to an end:
For around two years now, a site called Good Old Games allowed you to inexpensively purchase, download and play classic older (and old) PC titles from the platform’s heyday, with titles such as the original Fallouts, MDK, Master of Orion, and Outcast… plus many, many others (Duke Nukem 3D and the Tex Murphy adventure games were on there too!).
What’s more, these games were all officially licensed from the original publishers and developers, and ready to go once they were downloaded (no fiddling with trying to get them to work on newer operating systems). And the cherry on the top? No digital rights management.
Now though, the site has suddenly gone into hibernation, as service operators CD Projeckt released the following statement on the website:
- The Arrival of Azmodan: A Desperate Plea to the Armies of Light
- Why is War fighting against Death in this Darksiders II screenshot?
- Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Review
- Exclusive: Halo Infinity Multiplayer revealed for Halo 4, innovative online modes detailed
- Exclusive: Halo 4 Limited Edition announced with South African pricing and pre-order details
- CoD Elite members can cash in on Double XP now, but also welcome your new Call of Duty community manager
