Last week was a true return to form for Gears Wednesday. The numbers have always been there and they continue to grow with each session, but last week, for the first time in a while, the killing continued well past the witching hour in a variety of gamemodes, including King of the Hill (KOTH), Team Deathmatch (TDM) and Execution.
It’s that crushing time of the week again when we amass on Xbox LIVE to melee, shoot, destroy, maim and annihilate one another in Gears of War 3!
Gears of War Wednesday has arrived once more and although the matches are always intense and full of exploding gibs, there’s a sensitive side to the game, too.
If you’re reading this and thinking: “It’s Friday? I missed Gears of War Wednesday!”, firstly what’s wrong with you?! And secondly, you missed a damn good session of Gears.
It started early this morning, and the excitement for Gears of War Wednesday will continue to build until 8pm tonight where we’ll unleash some serious action on Xbox LIVE!
Thanks to the long weekend this week’s Gears of War Wednesday found itself at the start of the week - and what a fine way to begin!
We thought the numbers may be low this week owing to some people perhaps extending their long weekend a bit, but Gears Wednesday has grown so much it’s overwhelming at times. For example, I had just started up Gears and hadn’t even plugged my headset in yet before three people had already joined on my name, ready to go!
My Gears of War Wednesday plans were almost thwarted when Eskom decided to turn off my electricity yesterday afternoon. Sitting munching on a cold dinner in the dark, I was quietly contemplating how I could hook up the exercise bike and my two Labradors to the Xbox 360 and create power with their boundless energy. Luckily, before I had the chance to accidentally create another sort of Frankenstein, there was light. The time? 7:58pm. The moral of the story? Switch off and unplug, or you might not be able to enjoy Gears of War Wednesdays.
Everybody’s working for the weekend…no, that’s not right, we’re just going to have to change the lyrics a little. Everybody’s working for Gears of War Wednesday…ah, now that’s better!
It’s Gears of War Wednesday and everybody is working to get their Gnashers ready for the action tonight. We don’t know about you, but the El33t p33ps are ready to go!
The Gears troops had another heavy encounter with the Locust hordes last week Wednesday - Gnashers were locked and loaded, Lancers oiled and the lines of battle drawn.

As most around these parts know by now, Wednesday night is Gears of War 3 night and yesterday was no different - while South African players may choose other nights to play Gears, Wednesday has become the de facto evening, it seems, as many dozens of local gamers head online to get their fix.
I joined quite late last night but, as was to be expected thanks to the number of people still playing, I immediately found a great group of players with whom I played for a number of matches.
ettiene and Maiya ZA’s cross-map sniper skills were traded off as The Luman, Toxickbunny and more hustled in-between to chip away at each other’s respawn numbers in Team Deathmatch - jokes flowed freely, too, to make for a competitive but excellently fun time.
April 1st saw the crowning of South Africa’s first Gears of War 3 Champions as the inaugural DGL Gears of War 3 Cup came to an end after three weeks of exciting knock-out action!
Last week’s Gears of War Wednesday session, which seems so long ago thanks to all the (much appreciated) public holidays, was a return to basics for most. After plenty of ‘Forces of Nature’ action since it’s release everybody seems to have Guardianed themselves out - which for the record I called awhile back!
So back to the old favorites everybody went.
Winter is coming while in some places around the country it feels like it’s here already, and this past Wednesday it was definitely in full force here as we got consumed by the Forces of Nature in Gears of War 3!
Rested and ready to go! Oh yeah, after a few weeks absence I’m back. Back with a vengeance, back with a debt to pay, back with the forces of nature!

So join Numphie, El33tOliver, LeelooZA, myself and the rest of the El33tonline Gears of War 3 community as we take on not only each other, but the forces of nature as well.
