Red Steel 2 was released exclusively for the Wii in May this year. The game received favourable reviews, earning an overall Metacritic score of 80%, but ran into serious problems when it came down to sales, only selling 270 000 copies.

We attended a very entertaining talk given by Jason VandenBerghe, Creative Director for Red Steel 2, at GDC Europe 2010 yesterday. The discussion, titled ‘Chilling tales from Red Steel 2: How Motion Control will or won’t change the future,’ took the audience on a journey through the problems the development team faced when incorporating Motion Control into the game and ended with VandenBerghe’s predictions for the future of Motion Control.

Greetings from Cologne! The El33tonline team finally touched down in Germany yesterday and today we kicked off the week’s festivities with the first day of GDC Europe 2010.

In case you were wondering GDC Europe is the largest professionals-only game event in Europe and will feature keynotes, lectures, panels and sessions from a wide selection of both national and international speakers.

Warren SpectorIt’s recently been revealed that videogame industry luminary Warren Spector will provide the opening keynote for the European Game Developers Conference (GDC) in Cologne, Germany this month, which takes place just ahead of the gamescom event in the city.

Currently the creative director at Junction Point and hard at work on this year’s Disney Epic Mickey for the Wii, Spector’s keynote will be entitled “What Videogames Can Learn from Other Media…What We Can’t…And What We Shouldn’t.”
