Last week, we got our first details on the next set of handheld Pokemon games, Pokemon Black and White 2, with information on the main characters, their rival, gym trainers and the game’s new city.
More recently, however, the first ever trailer for Pokemon Black and White 2 has been sighted and spread across the ‘net, and while it’s in Japanese, we assure you Pokemon is a universal language! (*)
Get your first look at the in-game footage of Pokemon Black and White 2, with glimpses of town walking, battles and puzzle solving all included:
Influential Japanese magazine Coro Coro Comics has had a look at Pokemon Black and White 2 and come away with the very first details for Nintendo’s next ‘collect ‘em all’ RPG dual release for DS, divulging information on the main characters, the town and gym trainers, amongst other things.
They’re going to draw this out slowly, aren’t they? They’re going to take every opportunity to slowly and painfully reveal every last scrap and morsel of information leading up to release, right?
Nintendo, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company are masters of the art of building hype for their games. Not many companies can make an event of a box art or character reveal, but they can. We are but slaves to their PR cycle.
Oh well, if there’s nothing we can do about it, may as well dig in - as we await the release of Pokemon Black and White 2 on Nintendo DS later this year, have a look at the Japanese box art for the two versions of the game below:
Nintendo and Game Freak made the announcement over the weekend that Pokemon Black and White 2 would be coming to the DS in Japan this June, while follow-up announcements were made yesterday confirming a 2012 release of the game in the US and Europe, too - an unheard of turn-around time for the series, from Japanese to Western launch.
Following that ‘surprise’ announcement of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 over the weekend in Japan (the surprise was that it wasn’t Pokemon Grey, but were instead numbered sequels), Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe have both confirmed that the pair of Pokemon titles will also see a release in their respective territories this year.
It was the announcement we were all expecting - the follow-up to Pokemon Black and Pokemon White for DS was revealed yesterday on Japanese television, but we didn’t get our beloved ‘Pokemon Grey’ title, unfortunately.
Nintendo and Game Freak’s Pokemon Black and Pokemon White recently released in Japan – on September 18th to be exact - and as far as Pokemon fans are concerned, this particular dual-release of the stratospherically successful series of games looks to be the best one yet, with all new Pokemon, a new visual style, new connectivity options, a new battle system… just a whole bunch of ‘new’ added to the Pokemon formula we know and love.
Pre-orders for the game in Japan were recently recorded at over 1 million units. If you aren’t aware, this number is exceedingly insane.
Do you want to read another insane number? How about the number of units that Pokemon Black and White managed to sell during its first two days of availability in Japan?
Don’t tell me you were looking forward to using Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur in Pokemon Black and White! That crew is old school in the worst way!
What you need to do is play Pokemon Black and Pokemon White and catch all of the new Pokemon that are going to be included in the game. Don’t rely on those old standbys!
What’s that? You still want to use classic Pokemon in the next game? Well, I guess you can if you really want to… but you’ll need to finish the adventure before you get the chance.
