EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: gallery
We kick off Part two of El33tonline’s Videogame Diaries on the morning of the first day of gamescom (don’t forget to check out Part One over here if you missed it).
The Koelnmesse is buzzing with activity, journalists from around the world making their way around the business center to their different presentations and interviews. Our team splits up, each heading off to their own meetings and to soak up the sights and sounds that gamescom has to offer. Check this out for a peek inside the gamescom business area.
The El33tonline team touched down safely in Cologne, Germany last week Monday. After months of preparation and organisation, gamescom 2011 was finally upon us!
The plane trips to Germany were fairly uneventful: a short trip to Johannesburg then a 10 hour trip to Paris, followed by an hour trip to Cologne. Although we were on board a luxurious double storey plane to Paris, we were somewhat less amused with our propeller plane to Cologne.
Last week a bunch of South African videogame journalists set off for Cologne, Germany. Before the week was over we were battle hardened from braving the halls of gamescom to bring you news and previews straight from the showroom floor.
Even though we passed through different countries on our journey over (some stopped over in Paris, others in Istanbul and Munich) and were dotted at different accommodation venues throughout the city, we did manage to run into each other a few times at the press conferences and gamescom halls.
We continue our look at the videogame fans we found wandering the gamescom halls in Part 2 of our gallery (don’t miss Part 1!). Highlights include Team Jokerz, a couple of Orcs and some fun characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. Of course no gallery is complete without a few Storm Troopers, and even R2-D2 joined in the festivities.
Videogame fans are among some of the most loyal and dedicated fans you’ll find in the world. We pre-order, we overspend our budgets on collectors editions, we queue for hours to be one of the first to get our hands on a game, and we fill our shelves with figurines.
One of the other things that we do is dress up. Whether it’s Ezio from Assassin’s Creed, the witch from Left 4 Dead or just scary zombies, videogame fans love to imitate their favourite videogame characters.
Here’s a few pictures of the fans we found wandering the halls of gamescom (don’t miss Part 2!).
There is so much awesomeness to see at gamescom that we couldn’t contain it in a single post, so here’s part two of our photo-based journey through the public halls of the show - be sure to check out part one of our showroom coverage as well!
It’s a sad reality that not everyone can make it to gamescom, so we took the time to do a photo sweep of the more impressive stands on the showroom floor for you. We got in nice and early ahead of all the crowds to get the cleanest possible pictures for you to feast your eyes on, but later in the week you’ll see our coverage of the sea of people filling these areas, jostling for their turn to play.
There is so much awesomeness to see at gamescom we couldn’t contain it in a single post so be sure to check out part two of our showroom coverage.
Toot toot! It’s time to climb aboard the El33tonline gamescom 2011 coverage train as we’re about to kick off another volley of previews and news items straight from Cologne, Germany.
But. Before you start looking forward to this new collection of coverage, you should be sure to pore over our previously written articles to see what we’ve been up to in the massive halls of the Koelnmesse so far, which is where gamesom is once again taking place this year.
See the sights and read about the games we’ve enjoyed so far over here, and head on down below to see an overwhelming amount of Need For Speed: The Run adverts appearing on one of our daily U-bahn train commutes to the convention centre:
Yesterday our busy week at gamescom kicked off with three press conferences in a row, Microsoft started the festivities with their Play Day, followed by EA and Sony.
Today the first day of gamescom got under way with media from around the globe descending upon the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany to sample the best titles that the videogame world has to offer. Since our arrival in Cologne we’ve spotted a few celebrities of said videogame world and thought we’d share a few pictures with you.
After a busy day filled with three press conferences yesterday and a late night writing about said press conferences, the El33tonline team set off early towards the Koelnmesse. It’s the first day of gamescom 2011, and our day is packed to the brim with presentations and interviews with various publishers.
Microsoft held its annual Play Day at the Vulkanhalle in Cologne, Germany earlier today. The event kicked off with a look into the publisher’s line-up of games that will be showcased at this year’s gamescom event.
After the El33tonline gamescom team finished scouting out the Koelnmesse yesterday, we took the opportunity to enjoy some down-time before this week of gamescom kicks off and we’re buried to our noses in the awesomeness of the videogame world.
“If you go down to the Koelnmesse today, you’re in for a big surprise. If you go down to the Koelnmesse today, Battlefield 3 will assault your eyes.”
Gamescom has rolled into town, with billboard banners and flags advertising the world’s largest videogame fair dominating the streets and buildings of Cologne.
The El33tonline team took a stroll around the outside of the Koelnmesse this afternoon, and while everything was still relatively quiet, rest assured that things are buzzing on the inside. It would seem that this is the calm before the storm, with Sony clearly gearing up to showcase the might that is Uncharted 3.
