Prototype 2 brutalised the competition this past week by becoming the latest top-selling game on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, coming out ahead of FIFA Street, FIFA 12 and Mass Effect 3.

Surprisingly, this is Activision Publishing’s first No. 1 on Chart Track’s all formats sales chart and despite launching on a Tuesday around the world, it still doesn’t match the first week sales performance of the original Prototype, when that game was released in June 2009.

UK sales tracking firm Chart Track says that only one new game entered its weekly list of Top 40 best-selling games in the region this past week. This single debut entry to the sales chart also happened to become the UK’s latest No. 1 game on the listing.

That game’s name? The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition.

Despite a bit of a slip last week as Kinect Star Wars claimed No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software sales listing, FIFA Street (sales down 22%) has re-entered that lofty position, giving the title four (non-consecutive) weeks at the top of the chart.

Football mania has waned a little after the World Cup came and went in South Africa, but for a few people it actually opened their eyes to the sport. Now you get little pockets of people playing football in parks, backyards and even parking lots - people who never would have played football before.

It’s this accessibility to football that has made it the world’s most played sport. It’s not the version being played in huge stadiums that’s the most popular, either. It’s the version being played in the parks and streets, and this is where FIFA Street comes in.

Due for release on March 16th on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, FIFA Street isn’t about a long, drawn-out 90 minute game of football - it’s all about the flair! It’s about the flip flaps and the step overs, the rainbows and roulettes, the body feints and the ball stands, the juggles and the dribble touches!

The tricks! FIFA Street is all about the tricks!

FIFA Street boasts over 50 new skill moves (twice as many as FIFA 12, EA says) and the amount of sheer control you have over the ball is astounding. With the flick of your controller’s stick, you’ll be performing tricks like a pro and dazzling your opponents on the way to the goal!
