There was never any doubt that Epic Games’ Xbox 360-exclusive Gears of War 3 would manage to claim the No. 1 spot on the Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week, especially considering the game’s earlier than normal Tuesday release.

The weekend always catches us by surprise here at El33tonline, but somehow we’re always prepared for it with stacks of games and activities planned.

Of course, the Rugby World Cup is still on-going which means a good portion of time sat in front of the telly watching people crash into one another at top speed (with expected consequences), but we won’t only just be watching colours move on a screen, we’ll also be directing them in a few videogames.

What are select members of El33tonline busying themselves with in front of the TV this weekend?

The upcoming F1 2011, for example, will include a “stack of new things,” not least of which is a much more worthwhile multiplayer offering over F1 2010, as well as cooperative season play with friends, a split-screen feature, significant changes to car handling, better AI, and other ‘massive improvements.’

Watch the very first developer diary for F1 2011 to get looks at the game in action, as developers (and advisor Anthony Davidson) speak on the changes:

F1 2011 Box Art - Xbox 360 Small It’s been rumoured, speculated and then promised, but now Codemasters has formally announced the existence of F1 2011, as well as confirming official release dates for the game in North America and Europe.

F1 2011, the official game of the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship, is of course the follow-up to last year’s excellent Formula One racing game, F1 2010, and will challenge players to “Be the driver, live the life, go compete.”

That’s a call to arms if I ever did hear one!
