MotorStorm RC is the first game to really showcase the exciting potential of Cross Platform Play on PS3 and PS Vita. The concept of purchasing a game once and being able to have a near-identical experience on two systems still feels like a novelty, as does Evolution Studios’ excellent implementation of shared Cloud storage between both versions.
Motorstorm RC is revving onto PSN in the very near future and will be playable on both PS3 and PS Vita. A single purchase will net you both versions of the game although there’s no Cross Play functionality to speak of at this point.
Evolution Studios has unveiled MotorStorm RC, a new radio controlled off-road racing game that will be coming to the PlayStation Network and PS Vita in Spring 2012.
If you’re a fan of intense action racing games, then you’ll be happy to hear that an update for MotorStorm Apocalypse is now available on the PlayStation Network.
According to Evolution Studios, the ‘After Party’ update is the “biggest update” to the game so far…and it’s free! It includes a new day-and-night track called The Rock as well as new Special Events Packs and weekly challenges.
The first batch of downloadable content for MotorStorm Apocalypse is now available across Europe. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Evolution Studios announced that gamers have just two weeks to get their hands on the Supercar Elite.
According to Games Director Matt Southern, the Supercar Elite is the “ultimate ‘Stormer status symbol,” it’s a “lightning-fast eye candy, with a completely unique look – play online and you will stand out in an instant as a dedicated Lunatic, and no-one will dare bet against you.” The Supercar Elite will be available for €4.99 until the 27th of April.
A new release date has just been announced for MotorStorm Apocalypse in the UK following a delay for the action racing game’s launch in the region in lieu of the tragic events in Japan over a week ago.
No new release dates for the game have yet been announced for North America or Japan, however – regions in which the title was also delayed.
MotorStorm: Apocalypse was scheduled to arrive on store shelves across the world this week, but, following the devastating disaster in Japan last week, Sony Computer Entertainment elected to delay the release in a number of regions.
So far we’re aware that the release of MotorStorm: Apocalypse has been delayed in Japan and the UK, largely due to the game’s post-apocalyptic theme that could be seen to draw parallels with the recent events in Japan.
Following the tragic events in Japan this past week, and as a sign of respect for the lives lost and devastation caused by the earthquakes and resultant tsunamis in the country, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced a delay for the release of MotorStorm Apocalypse in the UK, after the release of the game was likewise delayed in Japan.
A SCE UK representative said of the delay:

The MotorStorm series of action-packed racing games really seemed to come out of nowhere with the launch of the PlayStation 3, and the franchise has gone on to effortlessly claim the crown in its unique offshoot of the off-road racing genre.
With the release of MotorStorm Apocalypse in March and April this year, developer Evolution Studios looks set to not only grip that crown even more tightly, but also conclusively stomp its authority in the videogame world.
The developer has just released a new trailer for its urban ‘off-road’ racer and it’s a stunner, showcasing the game’s crumbling, dangerous and explosive environments as a dozen daredevil racers battle their way through the city:
Sony and developer Evolution have released a spectacular debut trailer for the pair’s upcoming “Brutal Urban Off-Road” racing game, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, showcasing some epic racing scenes in amongst the real-time destruction of a city.
Exciting indeed!
In addition, an interesting developer interview has surfaced detailing some of the features of the game.
Sony and developer Evolution Studios have today revealed that a third entry to the PlayStation 3 action racing series, MotorStorm, is currently in development, and has received the moniker of MotorStorm Apocalypse.
MotorStorm Apocalypse isn’t so-called because of its setting, exactly, and doesn’t take place in a nuclear fallout-ravaged post-apocalyptic wasteland. MotorStorm Apocalypse does however take place in a location creatively called ‘The City,’ with a look inspired by the Bay Area of California.
Only this particular City has been hit with an earthquake, resulting in badly damaged and (crucially) abandoned urban environments, where the extreme sport group of ‘Stormers are keen to set up camp and kick off what Evolution calls “Brutal Urban Off-Road Racing.”
MotorStorm Pacific Rift is the second installment in Evolution Studio’s PS3 exclusive brutal off road racer series. The game is expected to be released this fall.
This time the MotorStorm Festival moves away from Monument Valley to a remote Pacific Island. Be prepared to face dense jungles, thick swamps, mountain peaks and volcanoes as you attempt not only to win but to survive, making use of both attacking and offensive driving.
You can expect “smarter and more aggressive AI” along with real-time track deformation, vehicles and environments that are fully destructible (collisions will damage a vehicle) as well as detailed scenery. The game will feature game play introduced in the original MotorStorm but will feature more tracks and vehicles as well as multiplayer options including four player split screen offline and races with up to 20 players online.
MotorStorm Pacific Rift introduces 16 multi-route tracks as well as new vehicles including a new monster truck class, ATVS, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and Big Rigs.
