Are you ready for the release of Bulletstorm next week? Are you sure?
After watching this latest trailer for People Can Fly’s insanely over-the-top first-person shooter, you may want to start preparing yourself (mentally, physically and otherwise) for the mind-blowingly raucous action you’re going to be exposed to:
The release of People Can Fly’s Bulletstorm is very near, and when this insanely action-crammed first-person shooter hits in two week’s time it’s going to be tough to think about it without images of crimson viscera splattering all over your screen.
So while we’re still a little ways away from launch, why not take a moment to enjoy a few chilled stills taken from the game to remember that Bulletstorm isn’t only about making a half-dozen enemies explode in the air while kicking, sliding and destroying a half-dozen other brutal foes, all in one action sequence.
But yeah… that’s what it’s really about:
So, in 2007 and just before the release of Halo 3, Microsoft’s advertising campaign was running in overdrive to spread the word that the countdown sequence to ‘the second coming’ in the world of videogames had begun, letting everyone know that this mighty title was imminent.
As part of that campaign (entitled ‘Believe’), Microsoft and its ad agency released a diorama-based commercial showing a frozen moment in time on a supposed battlefield in which protagonist Master Chief himself was a part of. The trailer was epic and set to hauntingly beautiful music – just the thing to get gamers in the mood for Halo 3.
Now, with the release of Epic and People Can Fly’s Bulletstorm late next month, a specially themed parody of that ‘famous’ Halo 3 trailer has been unleashed. Depending on your tastes, it may invoke a guffaw or two.
Oh, it also has brand new in-game footage from Bulletstorm right near the end, so watch out for that:
Can’t get enough of People Can Fly’s insanely action-packed first-person shooter, Bulletstorm?
Well, Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski, one of the producers on Bulletstorm, recently went through a gauntlet of interviews to let gamers know more about the multiplayer portion of the game (get further details and in-game footage of that over here), and he doesn’t disappoint!
You can watch two interviews with Bleszinski below as he tries (and succeeds) to convince us about the merits of Bulletstorm’s insane gameplay, while shouting over the noise of a party behind him:
The results of Epic and Microsoft’s Gears of War 3 campaign are in, and depending on the kind of virtual (or real) shirt you bought, you’ve gone and sealed the fate of one Clayton Carmine, as well as help to raise $150 000 for the Child’s Play charity.
What on earth am I yammering on about? Let’s start over.
Next week in Cologne, Germany, a massive videogame event called gamescom will be taking place from August 18th to the 22nd, where both press and public visitors will mingle and get hands- and eyeballs-on time with a storm of exciting and unreleased games.
To match this massive event, Epic Games (Gears of War) plan on making a massive reveal – so massive, it’ll make your head explode.
According to Tanya Jessen, a producer at Epic:
Last week it was announced that you, the gaming audience, would be able to vote on the fate of one Clayton Carmine, a new character to be introduced in Epic’s upcoming Gears of War 3, and brother to the two other Carmine soldiers who met their grizzly ends in the original Gears of War and Gears of War 2.
Starting today, July 29th, you can begin swaying the decision of Epic and convince the developer to either kill off this third Carmine brother in a similarly ghastly way to his siblings, or spare his life and let him live to see the end of Gears of War 3.
Epic Games and the Child’s Play charity are calling on Xbox gamers to help decide the fate of one Clayton Carmine, the third Carmine brother to be introduced to the Gears of War universe when Gears of War 3 releases in April next year.
If you’ve played previous Gears of War games, you’ll know that the Carmine brothers don’t really ‘handle’ combat situations very well, and end up meeting a grizzly death in both the original Gears of War, as well as Gears of War 2. While these deaths serve a purpose (teaching players about this or that dangerous element in the games), they’re no less unfortunate.
Now, you and your fellow Xbox community will be able to decide the fate of Clayton Carmine in Gears of War 3 simply by purchasing one of two Xbox Avatar items via Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
A bounteous batch of Gears of War 3 screenshots and art has hit the ‘net today, following the game’s showing at Microsoft’s E3 press conference yesterday, and the subsequent release of in-game footage from the action title.
As can be expected from a Gears of War game, the visuals are top notch and infinitely drool-worthy. Check ‘em out below.
Dribble dribble:
People Can Fly, Epic and EA have released an amazing debut trailer for the trio’s upcoming and destructive first-person shooter, Bulletstorm, showcasing the non-stop, over-the-top explosive action you’ll battle through during the game.

Following the massive trailer, screenshot and information reveal for Epic Games’ Gears of War 3, the developer has provided an official, set-in-stone release date for the shooter.
April 8th 2011 is when we can expect the third and final instalment of this Gears of War trilogy to drop, and since the reveal on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (which you can watch below), a few new morsels of information have begun to sneak out…
Following on from last night’s reveal by Epic Games’ Cliff Blezsinksi on the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon, Microsoft has released a few more details about Gears of War 3, including a haunting debut trailer for the game and the first screenshots.
Gears of War 3, dubbed by the publisher to be the “biggest blockbuster game of 2011,” will be the “explosive finale to the landmark Gears of War trilogy” and will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360 in April 2011.
[Update] EA and Epic Games have formally announced the existence of Bulletstorm - get the details of the arcade shooter over here. [End of Update]
By now, we are more than aware that Epic Games is working on Gears of War 3, after a bit of a botched announcement schedule and the inevitability of it all.
But what else is Epic working on, and when can we discover more details regarding this new game?
When the studio’s Cliff Bleszinski finally manages to appear on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show tonight to unveil what the developer is keeping himself busy with, he’s all set to reveal not one but two games, as he revealed on his Twitter account:
[Update] Dang, I guess I must have missed it, as the Xbox LIVE Dashboard confirmation of Gears of War 3 (and its release window) is no longer there. Looks like it wasn’t meant to be there after all… [End of Update]
Currently unconfirmed (my Xbox 360 is updating…), but AllGamesBeta has spotted an interesting image on Xbox LIVE’s Dashboard today, and it seemingly reveals a few things we already knew.
Even though we’re still waiting for the officially official announcement from Epic, reports regarding Gears of War 3’s gameplay and mission details have already begun to surface, with talk of underwater missions, new additions to gameplay that will change the series’ cover mechanic, and a mech suit.
These details come from Edge Online, so they’re not to be sneezed at, and were provided by a mysterious ‘US publishing source’ – the same source who let the word out that Gears of War 3 would release in April of 2011.
