If there is one name that is synonymous with Nintendo it is Shigeru Miyamoto. Currently the Senior Managing Director of Nintendo, Miyamoto created many of the video game industry’s iconic characters including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Star Fox. Miyamoto’s recent projects include Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy.
So it should come as no surprise then that his signature would be so sought after, as Nathan Smart discovered after placing a Super Famicom signed by Miyamoto on eBay.
In addition to the signed console and two controllers (which does work by the way), the auction includes Super Donkey Kong, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros 1,2 and 3, Super Game Boy, Mario & Wario as well as Mickey’s Tokyo Disneyland Adventure.
Smart visited New York in 2005 to meet Miyamoto and obtained the signature then. He has since been assaulted by gamers who lack understanding of how a gamer could part with such a treasure. Smart commented “Basically, the whole point of having this thing was that I got to meet one of my heroes and selling this piece of gaming history isn’t going to change that experience at all.”
The current bid stands at $1 525. If you are interested you have until the 28th of March to bid. Care to cast your vote as to how much the system will be sold for?
