It’s a bit of a slim update this week on the European PlayStation Store, with the absolute highlights being Earthworm Jim HD, downloadable content for Transformers: War for Cybertron, and demos for Madden NFL 11 and Flower.
Nostalgia seekers, PSP gamers and deal hunters should find some appealing pickings when the Store updates in just a few hours, while Guitar Hero and Rock Band players may just have their interest piqued by a few track offerings.
Head on down below to see the full list of content set to hit the European PlayStation Store soon:
For 800 MS Points apiece, you’ll be able to purchase and download Earthworm Jim HD and NeoGeo Battle Coliseum today through the Xbox 360’s Xbox LIVE Arcade channel on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
… Xbox.
El33tonline has had a few extensive looks at Earthworm Jim HD (and you can look through our coverage of the game over here to read some extra information and see great in-game footage), but we don’t know anything about NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, so head on down below for a gameplay montage trailer and a brief description of this title:
Gameloft’s high definition remake of Earthworm Jim, the classic mid-nineties action platformer, will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade tomorrow for 800 MS Points.
Earthworm Jim HD will feature all the original levels with an “HD facelift” plus “wild gameplay” and a “remastered cult soundtrack.” There will also be new enemies and three exclusive levels in a never-before-seen location to keep those who played the game on home consoles such as the Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES busy.
Gameloft has revealed a release date for the high definition remake of Earthworm Jim, the classic mid-nineties platformer originally put together by industry veteran Dave Perry and his team at Shiny.
According to Urban Dictionary:
Waja: The word for when you watch someone embarrass themselves so thoroughly that you also become embarrassed for no apparent reason.
Usage of Waja: “Did you see that guy try to be funny? That was some major waja…”
Other than an extended clip showing off what looks to be a well done remake of the original Earthworm Jim action platformer with full high definition art, this trailer for Earthworm Jim HD is filled with the joys and delight of first-class, grade-A waja.
If you choose to watch it below, you’ll see what I mean:
Gameloft is currently working on a remake of the early nineties classic action platformer, Earthworm Jim, which saw a release on home consoles such as the Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES in 1994. This much you knew.
A single comparison screenshot has now been released, however, to show the differences in graphical detail between the game’s original release in 1994, and the new remake here in 2009.
It’s been announced that a new entry to the historical Earthworm Jim series of platform games will be making its way onto downloadable game services Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, as well as mobile platforms, via the combined efforts of developers Gameloft and a licensing agreement with Interplay.
“The game, with its humorous and edgy style,” said senior vice president at Gameloft, Gonzague de Vallois, “is a great fit for today’s gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. We look forward to delivering a fantastic game.”
