EA Partners has today announced the signing of three new independently developed games for publishing and distribution through this unique EA label.
Over the course of 2011, we’ll see the appearance of these games titled ‘The Fancy Pants Adventures,’ ‘Warp’ and ‘Gatling Gears’ on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network (as well as PC).
What are these games all about? Let’s find out?
The excellent looking (hyper-violent) side-scrolling action game from Klei Entertainment and EA Partners, Shank, has recently been given a set release date on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace, while it’s been confirmed that a cooperative mode will be included in the game.
EA has announced that the company’s internal label, EA Partners, has signed a publishing agreement with independent developer Insomniac Games that will see the studio’s new, unannounced and upcoming franchise launch on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This new title will mark the first time an Insomniac game sees a multiplatform release in the developer’s 16 years of operation, which has been predominantly PlayStation-focussed for much of its history.
EA Partners and developers Crytek have announced that a sequel to their well-received PC shooter, Crysis, will be winding its way to gamers in the future, although no set release window has yet been revealed.
Powered by Crytek’s amazing CryEngine 3 technology, which is built specially for multiplatform development to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of both your PC and consoles, Crysis 2 marks a major milestone for the German-based developers, as CEO and President of Crytek, Cevat Yerli, proudly enthuses:
Holy holy! Brütal Legend! Can you wait for this game? I can’t wait for this game!
Brütal Legend, the next game to escape the mind of Tim Schafer (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) and the talents of development studio Double Fine (Psychonauts), features a journey to a time before time, as the game’s protagonist, a heavy metal band roadie called Eddie Riggs, finds himself cast back to a land of brutal war… and heavy metal.
So far, Brütal Legend is looking to be an open-world brawler, allowing you to gain the help of different factions and lead them into battle against opposing groups, all the while wielding an axe and a guitar capable of melting the faces of enemies. Awesome!
Brütal Legend is releasing later this year on PS3 and Xbox 360, courtesy of Double Fine and publishers EA Partners. In the meantime, you can watch the first trailer shown for the game, or continue checking out the rest of the screenshots and art below:
After months of uncertainty, it’s just been announced that Tim Schafer and Double Fine’s next game, Brütal Legend, is going to be published by EA and EA Partners!
After the game was dropped from Activision Blizzard’s release line-up as a result of their merger earlier this year, Brütal Legend’s publishing fate was uncertain, with rumours pointing to either MTV Games or EA to take up publishing duties. After MTV Games reportedly passed on the opportunity, and EA CEO John Riticiello called Brütal Legend a ‘significant creative risk,’ uncertainty once again hung over the game’s future. Until today! President of Double Fine Productions, Tim Schafer said:
“This is awesome news! The quality and creativity of the games EA Partners has been involved with make it a perfect home for our baby, Brütal Legend. Some people were starting to wonder if the saga of Eddie Riggs would ever see the light of day, but now I think it’s clear that this game, like Metal itself, cannot be killed!” Senior Vice President and General Manager at EA Partners, David DeMartini, added:
