Rebound once again rallied the faithful DS troops and we met this past Friday to indulge in a little friendly competition.

As usual it was no holds barred and amidst the red shells and bullet bills, it became apparent that people’s definitions of the word ‘friendly’ varied. For some (ok, I admit, it was just me) Mario Kart Wii had confused the matter at hand, and the top DS screen was flipped forward by mistake as I shook my DS while jumping over an obstacle to get that extra boost. Cough…noob.

Want to fight? Fight me!

After many not so polite threats and exclamations we wrapped up our eight race Mario Kart DS competition and jumped into some much needed refreshments. Next up was Metroid Prime Pinball and it was a pretty close fought battle between the competitors, although I always seem to spend more time trying to avoid those damn enemies than actually trying to score combos and the like. With this game the first person to score 100 000 wins so it is a race to flip and twiddle to victory.

Of course a DS LAN would just not be complete without a little Bomberman and Tetris. We discovered that first timer Oliver was actually quite familiar with Bomberman and many of us learned a few tricks from watching him from the sidelines after we had been blown to smithereens by cleverly placed bombs. Tetris, ah Tetris, some days you just have the touch…and others you are on the receiving end of piles of blocks dropped cruelly one after another.

We also had a sneak peak at the upcoming Tetris movie but don’t tell my friend Brad about it please because he will probably make us watch it at one of his dodgy DVD evenings. And by dodgy I don’t mean what you are thinking, I mean ‘Death Race 2000’ and ‘Santa Conquers the Martians’ dodgy…worst movies of all time kind of dodgy.

Mario Kart DSJust a reminder to all you DS gamers in and around the Durban area that we are getting together to race tonight.

We also have some awesome prizes sponsored by Core Gaming up for grabs, so clear your gaming calendar and see you there!

We know you don’t need an incentive to whip out your DS and join our LAN…but just to heat things up a bit Core Gaming has sponsored some cool prizes for our next get together.

So better start warming up your stylus because we have awesome Wii lanyards and Wii peak caps up for grabs.

Join us at the Twin Falls Spur in Kloof this Friday, the 29th of August at around 7. See how you fair against the El33tonline team and the Rebound crowd in Mario Kart Wii, Metroid Prime Pinball, Tetris and even Brain Training.

And remember, if it looks like fun, it is fun!

DS Lan - April 2008

If you have been devoting your racing time to Mario Kart Wii, be warned that the next DS LAN will be held on the 29th of August and it will be clearly evident if you have been neglecting your Mario Kart DS daily practices sessions.

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, leave your inhibitions at the door because I can assure you that your opponents will not hesitate to leave you in the dust or hurl a red shell your way.

Join us at the Twin Falls Spur in Kloof on the 29th of this month at around 7. We also play Metroid Prime Pinball, Tetris and the occasional round of Brain Training.

DS Lan - April 2008

Rebound once again rallied the DS troops this past Friday night. We gathered at our normal watering hole, DS’s charged and ready (well, most of us had charged our DS’s).

Our waiter asked if we had stumbled upon one another here. Yes, that must be it, eight DS players just happened to randomly gather in one place at one time…in a perfect world life would be like that! Unperturbed by our rather stony response to “oh, you guys are playing PlayStation,” he proceeded to ask us if we were in a clan. LOL, I have not been in a clan since my PC gaming days, but I suppose we are in a clan of sorts…a cool DS gaming clan.
