Nintendo recently announced that the long-awaited Pokémon Global Link for Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will finally become available tomorrow, April 13th, to allow players to communicate with other players, meet new Pokémon, check worldwide battle rankings and more.
“For the first time ever,” read a press release, “a Pokémon video game incorporates dynamic, customisable, Web-only content and online options that make it even easier to communicate with fellow Pokémon Trainers anytime, anywhere.”
Following the release of November’s NPD sales numbers, Nintendo has sent out a pre-emptive statement regarding the sales performance of its Wii and DS consoles in the US, and according to the NPD sales tracking group and Nintendo’s own internal numbers, their gaming devices sold pretty dang well this past month.
Nintendo loves to celebrate, doesn’t it, and when you’re king of the console world, why not?
After only recently announcing that a special celebratory red Wii will go on sale in November to recognise the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., the company has revealed that not one but two limited edition DSi handheld consoles will also be available in November to commemorate the whopping launch success of Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.
Following many weeks of Japanese market dominance on the part of the PSP, Nintendo’s DS has put its hand up to challenge Sony’s towering beast. The result?
Both the DSi and DSi LL have managed to topple the creature and exceed the weekly sales numbers accrued by the PSP.
The release of Pokemon Black and White in Japan last week just might have something to do with this turn of events…
Nintendo has announced that the DSi XL will be available in three bright new colours across Europe this October.
The publisher will be launching the newest addition to its handheld gaming family in yellow, green and blue on the 8th of October. This new range of colour options was launched in Japan in June and has proved popular since then.
Of course you’ll still be able to purchase the two launch colours, Wine Red and Dark Brown, if you choose.
Nintendo of America has announced that it will be dropping the prices of the DSi and DSi XL in North America.
From the 12th of September the DSi will retail for $149.99 while the DSi XL will be available for $169.99. The DS Lite will remain at $129.99.
The Pokemon series of videogames has proven to be something of a phenomenon over the years, and an enormous franchise that generates revenue that could fund a medium-sized country – perhaps you’ve heard of this ‘Pokemon’ of which I speak? I don’t want to assume anything.
A brand new Japanese advertisement has shown up on Mother Internet that demonstrates features present in the upcoming Pokemon Black and Pokemon White game duo, including video chat and Wifi connectivity.
The trailer also features a few glimpses at new gameplay footage, all while showing how easy it is to set up a battle against an opponent that’s in the same room.
Hopefully it is as easy as all that:
Don’t tell me you were looking forward to using Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur in Pokemon Black and White! That crew is old school in the worst way!
What you need to do is play Pokemon Black and Pokemon White and catch all of the new Pokemon that are going to be included in the game. Don’t rely on those old standbys!
What’s that? You still want to use classic Pokemon in the next game? Well, I guess you can if you really want to… but you’ll need to finish the adventure before you get the chance.
The long-running series of handheld console Pokemon games have traditionally released in pairs, i.e. Pokemon Green and Pokemon Red, Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Gold, and traditionally, each half of the pair contains content unique to that game, usually limited to exclusive Pokemon that you can only capture if you play a particular version.
When Pokemon Black and Pokemon White release later this year in Japan (and in the Fall next year around the rest of the world), the differences between the two won’t just be limited to exclusive Pokemon, but entire playable areas.
It’s another week at the top of Media Create’s Japanese Hardware Sales chart for Nintendo’s DSi LL, with over 32 000 units sold for the period ending July 4th, thanks in no small part to the whopping release of Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge!! for the DS.
Nintendo’s DSi LL continues its newfound dominant streak this week in the Japanese hardware sales chart, still riding the wave of popularity thanks to a welcome price drop and the introduction of a range of new colours for the system, managing to sell just over 40 000 units for the week.
The recent release of Love Plus + and Tokimeki Memorial: Girl’s Side 3rd Story for the DS probably didn’t hurt sales either.
As expected, however, sales of the other DS models, the DSi and Lite, are around about flat compared to the week previous, as would-be DS customers look for the better deal.
The DSi LL shoots to the top of the Japanese hardware chart, thanks to the price drop and new colours being released this week. The latest iteration of Nintendo’s handheld sells an impressive 30 183 units, almost three times last week’s rather dismal performance of 11 138 units.
Sales of the Nintendo DS have been stagnant over the past few weeks with would-be purchasers holding out for the new price point for both the DSi and LL and new range of colours (blue, yellow and green) for the DSi LL which were released in Japan on the 19th of June.
Nintendo Japan has announced that both the DSi and DSi LL (known as the XL everywhere else) will receive significant price drops in the region, as both handheld consoles will see over $25 removed from their usual prices.
Additionally, a brand new range of colour options have been revealed for the DSi LL, and the console will soon be available in Blue, Yellow and Green on June 19th (… in Japan at least).
Nintendo’s full year fiscal results were released late last week, and despite the publisher’s continued dominance in the videogame market, the numbers revealed a 22 percent decline in sales, to $15.24 billion (Ą1.43 trillion), as net profits fell 18 percent to $2.44 billion (Ą228.6 billion) and operating incoming dropped 36 percent to $3.80 billion (Ą356.57 billion).
