Jet Set Radio (known as Jet Grind Radio in the US) was one of the most colourful, funky and addictive titles released on the Dreamcast. Not only did the game contain a unique premise (a group of graffiti-loving street punks roaming the streets of ‘Tokyo-to’) but it was also a graphical marvel at the time thanks to its pioneering use of the cel-shading rendering technique.
Looking over this week’s US PlayStation Store update, you get the feeling that Sony Computer Entertainment has finally reached the stage where they can cater for every type of gamer’s needs via the Store.
Whether you want to play games on your PS3 from the SNES (Chrono Trigger), PS1 (Warhawk), PS2 or Dreamcast (Sega Bass Fishing) eras, or experience the latest in digital entertainment, there’s something for you on this week’s list. Even if you just feel like lazing on the couch and watching game-related videos, there’re the variety shows Qore (free for PS Plus members) and Pulse to peruse and over a dozen trailers and behind-the-scenes footage to absorb.
The Dreamcast website has been updated, apparently by Sega of Japan, and is asking gamers from around the world ‘Do you still own a Dreamcast?’ The update to the site happened over the weekend and enables Dreamcast owners to register using their Dreamcast’s serial numbers and sign up for a ‘@user.dreamcast.com’ account.
Initially the response to the site was overwhelming, causing it to crash, but since then many gamers have become skeptical with much speculation brewing as to whether the site is a hoax.
Gamerush reported that the website was a scam because Dreamcast.com was not hosted by Sega. However, Videogaming247.com claimed that a Whois registry search confirmed that Sega does own Dreamcast.com and that the site expires in June 2008.
