EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: dragonsdogma
Dragon’s Dogma will be available across South Africa for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this Friday, May 25th. If you’re not yet excited about the latest RPG from Capcom, then browse through El33tonline’s previous coverage and read Peter’s hands-on preview and you soon will be!
Dragon’s Dogma is nothing if not intriguing. A Japanese action RPG inspired by western RPG’s, it holds a lot of promise for me because I enjoy the combat mechanics of Japanese games and love a well implemented Western-style fantasy world. Because of this combination I have been following Dragon’s Dogma more closely than I do most games. I was recently able to get my hands on a review build for a few days, and after sinking perhaps six hours into the game my appetite has merely been whet, 25 May can’t come soon enough!

The cycle of life dictates that we must accept the status quo - that we must continue in the footsteps of those who came before us, never challenging our lot in life. Always living in fear of the unknown and, more frightening, what is known.
But… what if the cycle were broken?
The third and final Dragon’s Dogma developer diary has been released ahead of the epic action RPG’s launch later this month, this time discussing the myriad of non-playable characters you’ll encounter (over 400 of them!) as well as the countless number of ‘Pawns’ you’ll have at your disposal throughout your adventure.
Turns out you’ll need all the help you can get if you’re to match Capcom’s challenge and overcome the Ur-Dragon… but before we discuss that mighty task, let’s look at the character that will help us approach it:
Dragon’s Dogma is an ambitious action RPG that features a number of gameplay mechanics that are new to the genre. One of the game’s most striking inclusions is the Pawn system that allows you to fight alongside up to three AI-controlled companions who will go so far as to shout out tactical advice relating to the enemy at hand.
The month of April may have been a bit… light on exciting videogame releases and even though the low quantity was more than made up for with the quality of physical and digital releases this past month, May is going to kick 2012 into high gear.
What are your videogame highlights for the month of May? Death and destruction. Creation and adventure. Fantasy and sci-fi.
And healthy doses of Bullet Time:
Now this is how to handle a developer diary for a game!
Capcom recently sent out an epic developer video diary for the publisher’s just-as-epic open-world action RPG, Dragon’s Dogma, in which members of the team excitedly speak about their vast vision and hopes for the game.
Developers including producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and director Hideaki Itsuno discuss some of the game’s top features, including a massive world, player choice, immense customisation options and the ‘visceral’ monster encounters, with healthy amounts of in-game footage and behind-the-scenes video peppered throughout.
Did we mention it’s epic?
A whopping 1.5 GB demo for Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma has just arrived on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, giving you a chance to jump headfirst into a slice of the incredible open-world action RPG adventure that awaits us.
Here’s the official word on what we can expect in the demo for Dragon’s Dogma:
Microsoft has revealed that a new set of Chrome coloured Xbox 360 controllers will be heading to Japan.
Yesterday Capcom announced that a demo for Dragon’s Dogma would be available across the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace next week.
Capcom has just sent out word that the anticipated demo for Dragon’s Dogma is due for release next week across both PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace!
Many RPGs feature gargantuan beasts to slay but few, if any, allow you to climb all over these creatures while you dish out the damage. Dragon’s Dogma embraces a variety of grip-based gameplay mechanics, from throwing smaller enemies into the path of your ally’s blade to traversing the game’s vast landscapes by catching a ride on a winged creature’s back.
Every year, Japanese mega publisher Capcom holds the secretive ‘Captivate’ showcase event somewhere in the world. One year it was held in Hawaii. Another year, Captivate took place in Miami.
This year, however, Capcom’s Captivate was held in Rome, one of the most historically rich and culturally amazing cities in the world!
El33tonline’s Editor-in-Chief Lisa was invited to attend Captivate 2012 for a chance to exclusively sample uncontrollably exciting new Capcom games such as Resident Evil 6, DmC and Dragon’s Dogma, as well as bear witness to the first ever reveal and unveiling of Lost Planet 3!
Lisa has written a host of excellent features and previews on the event and the games of Captivate 2012, with more to come next week, and we’ve rounded up our coverage so far below:
Captivate 2012 in Rome brought with it many amazing, wondrous things for gamers the world over to get very excited about, and El33tonline’s fearless Editor-in-Chief Lisa embarked on a grand adventure to cover Capcom’s secretive event and bring back with her a colossal collection of thrilling news, previews and photos!
The adventurers seen in Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom make similar journeys o’er the land, but we sure hope Lisa didn’t have to contend with the ghouls and monstrosities seen in the latest enthralling gameplay videos for this epic open-world action RPG.
The Boscolo Hotel is situated in the beautiful Piazza della Repubblica in Rome. Upon entering my hotel room I spotted a bloody pullover on a knocked over chair in the corner. Needless to say the Italian gentleman escorting me to my room was quite shocked, wondering how this had been overlooked. I quickly reassured him that he need not worry, it was all part of the event I was attending…at least I hoped it was!
