PlayStation Network LogoThe US PlayStation Store has been updated for the week with a bevy of awesome content, the likes of which you’ve never seen, or at the very least, you’ve never seen this exact content before, as (what sounds like) like the excellent Mega Man 10 arrives on the store, as well as downloadable content (DLC) for Bioshock 2, entitled the Sinclair Solutions Pack.

DLC for Resident Evil 5, MAG, Race Driver: GRID and Dragon Age: Origins can also be found in amongst the usual assortment of interesting videos (including a new edition of The Tester), themes, PSP content, minis and Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks, so browse on down below for the full list of new content now available on the US PlayStation Store:

Electronic Arts LogoElectronic Arts posted a net loss of $82 million for its third fiscal quarter ending December 31st 2009, down a whopping $641 million compared to the same period the year previous, but as net losses fell, so too did the publisher’s revenue for the quarter.

EA and developer BioWare have announced that Dragon Age: Origins has shipped over 3.2 million units worldwide.

In a post made on Bioware’s official forums, it’s been announced that the planned Dragon Age: Origins downloadable content (DLC), Return to Ostagar, has had to be delayed for a little while longer, as according to the post, “[Dragon Age: Origins] is an incredibly large, very deep and complex game, making it virtually impossible to test every system and permutation possible for each update/DLC.”

Dragon Age’s community facilitator, Victor Wachter, posting on behalf of the Dragon Age team, wrote:

The full list of nominees for this year’s Game Developers Choice Awards has been announced, comprising multiple nominations for Uncharted 2, Assassin’s Creed II, Flower, Dragon Age: Origins, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Plants VS Zombies.

Game Developers Choice AwardsThe Game Developers Choice Awards is the leading peer-based videogame industry awards and is now in its tenth year running. Nominees for the awards (which aren’t restricted or considered on payment) are chosen by “a combination of open game industry nominations and the votes of the leading creators in the Choice Awards Advisory Committee.”

Winners are selected by the Game Developers Choice Awards-specific International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), which is a “new invitation-only group comprised of 500 leading game creators from all parts of the video game industry.”

Dragon Age Origins Banner Image

[Update] Apparently (as these things usually go) and according to a post on the Bioware forums, there is an issue with a title update associated with the new Return to Ostagar DLC, and as a result, the DLC is being removed from Xbox LIVE until the issue has been resolved. [End of Update]

Dragon Age: Origins’ latest downloadable content (DLC), Return to Ostagar, has recently slipped onto Xbox LIVE Marketplace with nary a whimper (well, if you navigate your way to the ‘Downloadable Content’ menu in-game) for fans to continue the adventure.

EA and Bioware recently officially announced the existence of the Dragon Age: Origins retail-bound expansion pack, The Awakening, after rumours of the add-on began mounting over the holidays.

The Awakening will once again take on the role a Grey Warden, this time trying to restore an order of legendary warriors, while being tasked with discovering secrets surrounding the threat of the Darkspawn.

Players will also battle new enemies and monsters, including the “Inferno Golem and Spectral Dragon,” as well as another mysterious enemy going by the name of the “Architect.”

Dragon Age Origins Banner Image

Owners of Dragon Age: Origins on Xbox 360 and PC will both be able to buy and download a new set of downloadable content (DLC) tomorrow, January 5th, for 400 MS Points and 400 Bioware Points respectively ($4.99), while PS3 owners will gain access to the content later this month.

Entitled ‘Return to Ostagar,’ the DLC finally adds some decent content to Dragon Age: Origins (sarcasm to the maximum) and will take you back to Ostagar to spoiler and meet up with spoiler, discovering spoiler along the way… really, if you’re into your Dragon Age, it’s best you discover this stuff for yourself.

Bioware LogoBioware, a division of EA, recently announced that it has set new records for site traffic in EA’s substantial network of affiliated sites this year with its DragonAge.com domain, while a new record for new user registrations has also been set with the developer’s social networking site, Social.bioware.com, with over five million users signing up at the site after the release of the developer’s latest game, Dragon Age: Origins.

Additionally, 30 000 people have signed up at the Dragon Age fan page on Facebook since June this year, making it the fastest-growing EA property on the social networking site.

Now that Dragon Age: Origins has been released, the anticipation for Mass Effect 2 is clearly leading to similar statistics for that game - a 33% increase in traffic has already been observed since the Special Edition announcement early in November.

Developers BioWare have announced that the Return to Ostagar DLC for their popular RPG fantasy, Dragon Age: Origins, will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this holiday season in both North America and Europe. The DLC will cost £3.99 on the PlayStation Store, 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 and 400 BioWare Points on the PC.

The new quest will see players returning to the battlefield in Ostagar where the Grey Wardens were nearly wiped out and discovering the political agenda of King Cailan as well as going behind enemy lines to “revisit a place that many feared had been lost to history.”

Wii Fit PlusAccording to Chart Track, this past week has seen an enormous amount of new games, and different stock-keepers units (SKU’s) of the same game, releasing to the UK market, with 41 different games and franchises added to their database which comprise 80 SKU’s - from single format PC games, to Band Hero which is available on nine platforms.

Moving up to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart this past week, however, is an older title in the form of Nintendo’s Wii Fit Plus (sales up 3%), while SEGA’s Football Manager 2010 (sales down 53%) shifts down from its first appearance at No. 1 last week, to No. 4 this week.
