Activision is celebrating the currently-on-the-go Call of Duty XP event in LA today by providing all Call of Duty: Black Ops players on all platforms the chance to earn twice as many online experience points over the next few days, with another Double XP Weekend!
Following its timed exclusive release on Xbox 360 in late June, the Annihilation map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops is now available for PlayStation 3 owners of the game!
Treyarch community manager Josh Olin posted a message on Twitter a little while ago confirming the news:
[Update] A new pre-order listing on Steam has revealed that the Annihilation map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops will release for PC gamers on July 28th. [End of Update]
After having been released exclusively for Xbox 360 owners in late June, the Annihilation multiplayer map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops has today been given a late July release date for PlayStation 3, coinciding with a double XP weekend to celebrate.
To celebrate the release of the third map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops earlier this week, Activision and Treyarch promised to hold a Double XP weekend starting July 1st.
But oh, what’s this? It’s July 1st today? Let’s go!
Activision mouthpiece Dan Amrich (and social media manager for the company) has got very philosophical over on the PlayStation Blog and announced that a lengthy Double XP weekend will begin today for Call of Duty: Black Ops – exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
While PC and Xbox 360 gamers enjoyed similar treatment some weeks ago, PS3 owners were unfortunately left out of the fun due to that PlayStation Network downtime, but now Treyarch is making good on its promise to bring a new Double XP event to this breed of gamer.
“To celebrate the return of the PlayStation Network and welcome you back to Killzone 3’s online battlefield,” begins a blog post on Killzone.com, “we’ve got a Double XP Weekend lined up!”
This is the best kind of celebration for multiplayer fans, I think.
What’s that sound? Kind of like… the sound of a player in Call of Duty: Black Ops ranking up… only this sound is much more powerful, as though it’s being played hundreds of thousands of times at once…
Hmm. Must be a Call of Duty: Black Ops Double XP weekend!
