Capcom has just made a whole lot of Devil May Cry fans very happy be announcing an official, worldwide launch date for the publisher’s franchise reboot, DmC, with confirmation of a PC version of the game alongside the release of new character information.
Dante may have a different hair colour, he may be slightly younger, but rest assured the cocky attitude and insane fighting style of the Devil May Cry franchise that we’ve grown accustomed to are still the same. We got the chance to learn a bit more about the new DmC game, and a few of Dante’s secrets, at the recent Captivate event during a presentation given by Capcom’s Alex Jones and Hideaki Itsuno as well as Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades.
Every year, Japanese mega publisher Capcom holds the secretive ‘Captivate’ showcase event somewhere in the world. One year it was held in Hawaii. Another year, Captivate took place in Miami.
This year, however, Capcom’s Captivate was held in Rome, one of the most historically rich and culturally amazing cities in the world!
El33tonline’s Editor-in-Chief Lisa was invited to attend Captivate 2012 for a chance to exclusively sample uncontrollably exciting new Capcom games such as Resident Evil 6, DmC and Dragon’s Dogma, as well as bear witness to the first ever reveal and unveiling of Lost Planet 3!
Lisa has written a host of excellent features and previews on the event and the games of Captivate 2012, with more to come next week, and we’ve rounded up our coverage so far below:
The latest edition of Capcom’s annual Captivate showcase event took place in Rome recently, and El33tonline’s Lisa was there to discover Lost Planet 3 secrets and learn more Resident Evil 6 details.
One game present at Captivate 2012, however, was arguably Lisa’s pick of the bunch going into the event and she was armed with Devil May Cry knowledge and excitement to spare in preparation for DmC from Capcom and Ninja Theory.
What’s so great about DmC? Why is it the first game to successfully slot into the ‘Stylish Action’ genre? You need only watch the latest action-packed trailer for the game, fresh from Captivate 2012, to find the answers you seek:
Capcom has released a batch of new information for the upcoming Devil May Cry. Not only can you enjoy five new blood-soaked screenshots from the game, but you can also take a gander at some concept artwork of Dante and his weapons, guns Ebony and Ivory as well as his sword Rebellion.
By the publisher’s own admission the DmC project is “still shrouded in mystery,” so sit back, relax and soak the new details in.
Capcom has released a new gameplay video for Devil May Cry, the upcoming reboot to the intense action series.
This video shows us a glimpse of a secret area that is only playable when Dante discovers the secret portals which are hidden throughout the game.
The next Devil May Cry title is shaping up nicely, as you’ll see in these two new trailers which publisher Capcom just released.
Capcom and Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry reboot is shaping up to be absolutely incredible, and in this latest trailer and screenshot one-two combination, the colourful, detailed world of DmC is showcased to give us extended looks at new ways to shoot, juggle, slash and destroy gnarly demons.
The extended Tokyo Game Show trailer will be of particular interest to long-time Devil May Cry fans to assuage any concerns over ‘that’ hair, and also provides glimpses at the crazy alternate world of the demons
Fantastic stuff, all below:
If you’re one of ‘those’ people that was reviled by the idea of Devil May Cry’s Dante sporting an all-black hairdo (as opposed to his iconic shock of white), then you may want to watch all the way to the end of the latest trailer for Ninja Theory’s DmC (also known as ‘the Devil May Cry reboot’) for a wink and a nod towards the developer’s future plans for the ‘do.
But seriously though. Does the hair colour of the storied protagonist really matter when the action looks so insanely cool?

The next Devil May Cry title was announced last year at Tokyo Game Show 2010, revealed to be a reboot, or re-imagining, of Capcom’s intense action series.
Currently in the works at Ninja Theory (Enslaved, Heavenly Sword), the new Devil May Cry game (known as DmC) will feature the action-packed antics of a re-imagined, younger, more rebellions Dante – the franchise-long star of Capcom’s Devil May Cry games.
Don’t miss the first ever in-game footage from DmC below - it’s time to get excited:
Love it or hate it, a new Devil May Cry action title is in development at Heavenly Sword/Enslaved developer Ninja Theory. Currently known as DmC, the new title will feature the action-packed antics of a re-imagined younger and more rebellious Dante, the franchise-long star of Capcom’s Devil May Cry games.
According to the publisher, DmC will “redefine the franchise” but “retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay” adding “additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalized gameplay system.”
Confirming wild rumours at the ongoing Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has announced that a new Devil May Cry action title is in development at Heavenly Sword/Enslaved developer, Ninja Theory.
Currently, the game is known only as ‘DmC,’ and will seemingly feature the action-packed antics of a re-imagined, younger, more rebellions Dante – the franchise-long star of Capcom’s Devil May Cry games.
