Xbox LIVE’s Games on Demand digital distribution service has today enlisted the help of two more great titles to further imbue the channel with quality content, this time adding Tomb Raider: Legend (for North America) and Devil May Cry 4 (for Australia, New Zealand and Europe) to the line-up of games you’re able to purchase and download from the comfort of your own home (and Xbox 360).
The latest addition to Xbox LIVE’s Games on Demand service arrives in the form of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, a game that proved to be extremely divisive amongst the gaming community with its focus on an excellent vehicle-building aspect, but requiring players to slog through monotonous singleplayer challenges in order to build increasingly interesting vehicles.
What does the write-up have to say for itself?
“The heroic bear and bird return at last to defend Spiral Mountain from their nemesis Gruntilda. Groundbreaking vehicular platforming awaits in wild new worlds packed with features and faces old and new. Build awe-inspiring vehicles and tackle the Jiggy challenges in any way you see fit!”
If you need a bit of a refresher course, you can watch a trailer for the game below, or read El33tonline’s review of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.
Eurogamer’s crack team of technology experts, The Digital Foundry, have compared the game install times of a regular PlayStation 3 against the new, slimmer variant, the PS3 Slim, and it turns out that the time it takes to install a game onto the PS3 Slim’s hard-drive is not-inconsiderably less than that of the regular PS3.
Capcom has announced that three of its Platinum hits for the Xbox 360 will be available in one package titled the Platinum Hits Triple Pack next month.
The bundle will include Dead Rising, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Colonies Edition) and Devil May Cry 4, and will be available on the 8th of September for $39.99.
According to the publisher, the three games combined have sold over 3 million units in the US.
According to Capcom the popular Devil May Cry series has just passed the 10 million worldwide sales mark.
The first game in the series was released in 2001 while Devil May Cry 4 was released on current generation consoles in 2008. Capcom believe that the change of main characters encouraged new players to take a look at the series, leading to an impressive 2.2 million copies of the game sold.
Devil May Cry 4 has not only wooed gamers but artists too. The game walked away with an award for excellence at the Japan Game Awards 2008 and was also selected as an entertainment division jury recommended work at the 2008 Japan Media Arts Festival.
The best word to describe Devil May Cry 4 in the current gaming landscape is ‘anomaly.’ Even over a year after its release, the game delivers an experience that is welcome and necessary in a gaming world dominated by first-person shooters, slower paced action offerings and two-bit puzzle games. The frenetic, non-stop sword and gunplay action in Devil May Cry 4 will take some players by surprise, especially if they’ve never played a Devil May Cry game before, as it will provide a refreshing change of pace to their normal gaming diet.
While it reuses a lot of content along the way, as well as using time-consuming puzzles and secret missions to artificially create more playtime, Devil May Cry 4 is a distinctly old-school third-person experience that action gamers would be remiss not to investigate further.
