Deus Ex: Human Revolution - The Missing Link DLC Banner Logo

The first set of paid downloadable content has arrived today for Deus Ex: Human Revolution in the form of ’Missing Link,’ a new, separate adventure for Adam Jensen that will see our augmented hero stripped of his powers and forced to survive in an all-new (hostile) environment with brand new characters who will eke out information on a new conspiracy.

‘New’ is the key word here.

The weekend always catches us by surprise here at El33tonline, but somehow we’re always prepared for it with stacks of games and activities planned.

Of course, the Rugby World Cup is still on-going which means a good portion of time sat in front of the telly watching people crash into one another at top speed (with expected consequences), but we won’t only just be watching colours move on a screen, we’ll also be directing them in a few videogames.

What are select members of El33tonline busying themselves with in front of the TV this weekend?

Xbox LIVE Logo SmallerIt’s business as usual at the top of the Xbox LIVE Activity Chart this week, as Call of Duty occupies No. 1 and No. 2 and Halo: Reach and FIFA Soccer 11 follow closely behind

But.

New to the listing this week is Madden NFL 12 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which appear in the mix with GTA IV, Gears of War 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

We’re counting the days until the release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in October and November respectively to inject some fresh blood at the top of the chart, but until then, let’s look at some other activity on Xbox LIVE.

The teased bit of downloadable content for Deus Ex: Human Revolution has received a few extra details today with screenshots, a quick-fire trailer and a confirmed release month (October).

There’s also a description of the story events included in the DLC, but it could be a bit spoilery, so if you’re currently playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, or you intend playing it (read Oltman’s review over here if you don’t), rather skip over the text and watch the trailer (which doesn’t contain spoilers as far as we’re aware…).

Deus Ex has always held a special place in my heart. It was the first game I played where stealth was not only a valid option, but in most places required. It is also the first first-person game where the story was of real consequence and more meaningful than just ‘shoot this guy, run here, jump there.’ Finally, it was the first game where I had a choice in what actions I took, and those affected the outcome of not only the level, but the story.

Eleven years later and the third game in the series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, lands on my desk. It was developed by an all-new team, it’s available on consoles, and finally it’s not a sequel, but a prequel. Yes, the game had a proper sequel, and it was not half bad, but it lacked a lot of the innovative punch the original carried. So how does this third game stack up? Very well!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Box Art Despite a whopping 46% drop in sales compared to the week previous, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has once again claimed the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, ahead of the newly released Driver: San Francisco.

Ubisoft’s Driver, however, had enough success to land it in No. 2 on the chart - as 53% of the game’s sales were seen on Xbox 360, while 46% were recorded on PS3 - effectively pushing the previous sales monster Zumba Fitness down by one place to No. 3, as that title’s sales dropped by 19% from the previous week.

Sales of Rugby World Cup also fell, this time by 30%, forcing the game down to No. 4 from No. 3, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (sales down 16%) stepped down one place to No. 5.

You asked for it:

Interestingly, Chart Track notes that in only two days worth of sales, Deus Ex: Human Revolution was only 26 000 units short of outdoing the lifetime sales of the latest series entry, Deus Ex: Invisible War. Massive!
