Xbox frontman Major Nelson has provided us with some very interesting data this day in the form of a new Xbox LIVE Activity chart… but this is no ordinary activity chart, no-sir!
This compiled listing looks at the launch week activity (the first seven days) of various titles on Xbox LIVE over the course of 2010. Only games release last year were included in the chart, and only the top games in each category made their respective lists.
Based on unique users worldwide in 2010, you can see the top most played games on Xbox LIVE, the best-selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games, and the best-selling Xbox LIVE Indie games, all within the first seven days of their respective availability:
Now that we at least know the release window for the next Dead Rising 2 downloadable content, Dead Rising 2: Case West, it’s time to get a new glimpse of the game to see Frank West and Chucke Greene, together at last, ‘posing danger’ to any zombie that dares cross their paths.
Check out the rest of the new shots below, accompanied by an extremely bloody gameplay video showcasing the pair tearing up roomfuls of the walking dead:
When a publisher releases a fully-featured and playable prelude to one of the year’s most anticipated games, there’s bound to be a bit of interest, and when that prelude costs only 400 MS Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, you can bet gamers are going to pay it even more attention!
So it is with Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, which has recently been revealed to be the fastest selling game on Xbox LIVE Arcade in 2010.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s reign of terror on Xbox LIVE has come to an end.
After releasing in November 2009, it’s taken almost an entire year for another game to come along and successfully knock Modern Warfare 2 from the No. 1 spot on Xbox LIVE’s weekly activity ranking, and become the new most played game on the service.
Halo: Reach is that game.
After releasing on September 14th, Halo: Reach wasted no time in working its way up the listing, and this week sits at the No. 1 position on the chart. Will this be a lengthy stay, or will Modern Warfare 2 and Halo: Reach continue to swap positions leading up until the release of a new contender on November 9th: Call of Duty: Black Ops?
Lately, it seems as though the Halo series just can’t catch a break.
[Update] Updated to reflect the new Xbox LIVE Activity ranking, where Halo 3 and Halo: Reach have swapped places on the chart. Read more about why that happened over here. [Update]
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hasn’t yet seen a suitable challenge on the Xbox LIVE Activity ranking since its release in November 2009, this much is true. Week in, week out, the game consistently shows up at the top of the chart, reigning supreme as the number one most played game on the service, worldwide.
That time may soon be at an end, however.
Did you think Capcom would be happy with revealing a mere two brand new titles at Tokyo Game Show this year, with the announcements of Asura’s Wrath and a new Devil May Cry game? Pah! You obviously don’t know Capcom, because the publisher unveiled a third unannounced title at the event.
Dead Rising 2: Case West is its name, and zombie destruction will be part of its game, much like Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero before it.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2! You will be set up a bomb! You have no chance of survive, make your time!”
Wha… what on earth? Is it possible? Can the ancient prophecy really be true? Are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s ‘End Days’ upon us?
With the release of Bungie’s Halo: Reach next week, on September 14th, you’d better believe that over the next few weeks Modern Warfare 2 is going to face some stiff competition on Xbox LIVE’s activity rankings, making for an incredible battle for supremacy.
According to a report on GamerBytes, Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 prequel, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, saw over 300 000 players during its first week of availability.
Two whopping pieces of downloadable content (DLC) have just hit Xbox LIVE Marketplace, as the singleplayer Bioshock 2 content, Minerva’s Den, and the Dead Rising 2 prologue game, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, both appear on the service.
For the incredibly low price of 400 MS Points (?!), Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is yours to download, allowing you to play through a full-featured prequel to the upcoming zombie destruction game, Dead Rising 2. Here’s the story and feature skinny:
If you were looking forward to tomorrow’s release of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, and you were a little perturbed about the news that the downloadable Xbox 360 title had been delayed, then it’s time to breathe a sigh of relief, as Capcom has confirmed that the game is still due to release on August 31st on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
If you live in Japan, however, you’re still entitled to your pouting fit.
From a post on the Capcom Unity blog:
Capcom has announced that the Xbox 360-exclusive Dead Rising 2 downloadable prequel, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, has been delayed in Japan.
After the release of Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 zombie destruction game was delayed into late September/early October, the release date for the game’s Xbox 360-exclusive prologue, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, was cast into doubt.
Now, however, Capcom has fortunately put fans out of their collective misery by announcing a set release date for this unique new content, as well as a surprisingly low price for what essentially sounds like a self-contained and fully featured (but extremely reduced) game in its own right… not quite a demo, though…
