Dead or Alive: Dimensions is an excellent portable fighting game, and the 3DS is a great home for it. The fighting is silky smooth at 60 frames per second (with the 3D turned off) and the analog pad is a wonderful control mechanism, which means the game plays superbly well and isn’t hampered at all by the small form factor.

It’s been another busy week here at El33t Towers, with plenty of E3 news already starting to trickle in over the past few days.
Next week will be a crazy time, with the team working around the clock to bring you the latest announcements and reveals from LA. However, before then the show must go on so we’ll be hard at work this weekend putting the latest titles through their paces to keep you up to date on what’s new on our gaming shelves.
Take a deep breath everyone, it’s almost E3 time! Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
The latest Media Create figures are up, and once again Sony and Nintendo’s respective handhelds are the platform of choice for Japanese gamers.
Akiba’s Trip for PSP scores big this week with 58 150 units sold. From what I can tell it’s a mildly titillating vampire game set in Tokyo with action elements similar to the Yakuza titles.
Dead or Alive: Dimensions provides some much needed impetus for 3DS software sales, taking the number two spot in its debut week on the charts. I’m wondering if Koei Tecmo couldn’t have made more profit if they had developed the game for PSP, but perhaps Nintendo offered them a tidy sum to grace the 3DS with their popular fighting franchise.
Although the number of top games releasing this month is low compared to, say, April, the quality to quantity ratio is truly amazing, as every week for the next few weeks there’s some or other title that’s well worth your attention, across all genres.
We’ve collected together a list of games releasing over the course of the next few weeks (which you can peruse below), while members of El33tonline have sounded off on the titles that they’re most looking forward to, and that you may be chomping for too!
[Update] It’s been confirmed that Nintendo and South Africa’s Core Group will also sell, market and distribute Dead or Alive: Dimensions for 3DS in the country in May as part of the console’s launch period game line-up, while Tecmo Koei remains the title’s publisher. [End of Update]
Dead or Alive: Dimensions will be heading to European territories this May thanks to a new distribution deal between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei Europe.
The Nintendo 3DS launches across Europe and South Africa today, and Dead or Alive: Dimensions will be part of the launch line-up of games. It’s the first time an instalment in the popular fighting franchise has been made for a Nintendo platform and promises to be “the most dynamic ever.” Having recently had some hands-on time with Dead or Alive on the 3DS I can honestly say that this claim is completely justified!
Tecmo Koei’s next entry to the Dead or Alive franchise is all set to appear on Nintendo’s next handheld, the 3DS, and it’s recently been announced that this new fighting game will be called Dead or Alive: Dimensions.
Get it? Because the 3DS does… the whole… stereoscopic 3D thing? Great.
