2008’s Spore was a game with great promise, and ultimately (in my opinion) did not deliver on all of it. It was broken into four separate parts when one flowing game would have been much better. What was great about the game though was the Creature Creator. It allowed a nearly unlimited amount of organic creatures to be created and then move and act realistically. It is the promise of Spore combined with an action RPG that sets the mood for Darkspore.

In preparation for the enormous gaming event next week, EA has announced its full line-up of games set to appear at gamescom in Cologne, Germany next week.
From August 18th to the 22nd, videogame press and consumers will be able to get their hands on some intriguing and exciting upcoming EA titles across all platforms – even iPod and iPad games.
EA does not discriminate!
Senior Vice President and General Manager for EA Publishing in Europe, Jens Uwe Intat, commented:
“gamescom has grown to become the largest show for interactive entertainment, and offers a unique chance for us to engage directly with consumers, retailers and media at one event.”
EA has announced that its Maxis Studio is hard at work on Darkspore, a new online sci-fi action RPG for the PC that promises to introduce “innovative character customisation, gameplay mechanics and online play to the genre.”
Darkspore will see players battling against the mutated forces of Darkspore across alien worlds to save the galaxy. The game will feature a four player co-operative and full single player campaign as well as intense multiplayer battles.
