One of the leading ADSL internet service and solutions providers in South Africa, Afrihost, has just announced that the company’s latest product has been launched in the form of its new AfriGamer Servers.
“Loaded with some popular gaming titles,” writes the announcement, “now is the time to get online and start gaming.”
With AfriGamer Servers, Afrihost is providing online gaming servers for five extremely popular competitive multiplayer games, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
The current line-up of game servers includes:
Counter-Strike: Source, the much-maligned update to classic Counter-Strike 1.6, has received an extensive update to bring new features and functionality to the aging (but still ultra popular) online team-based shooter.
Currently in ‘beta’ (unfortunately Valve has already filled all available beta testing slots), this update to Counter-Strike: Source has been implemented with help from developers Hidden Path Studios. Once the beta has run its course, the update will be applied to Counter-Strike: Source proper, for free naturally. It’s the Valve way.
South African electronics and videogame retailer Incredible Connection has announced the details of another ‘One Night Cup’ online gaming competition, with Counter-Strike Source being used as the game to test your skills against your fellow competitor.
The competition will be taking place on February 28th, and will feature 16 Counter-Strike Source teams in a single elimination format, with prizes up for grabs for first and second place finishers in the form of prepaid ADSL bandwidth.
